Sinopse

"Decoding Human Lies" explores the intricate world of deception, providing insights into why and how people lie. It examines the psychological motivations behind falsehoods, such as self-preservation and manipulation, while also detailing observable cues like microexpressions and inconsistencies in verbal narratives. The book highlights that while no single method guarantees lie detection, understanding human psychology and carefully analyzing behavioral cues greatly improves accuracy.

The approach taken in "Decoding Human Lies" traces the evolution of lie detection, from the early polygraph tests to modern techniques rooted in behavioral analysis and cognitive psychology. The book progresses logically, starting with fundamental concepts, then delves into specific cues like body language and linguistic patterns, and concludes with practical applications in interrogation techniques and risk assessment.

Readers will gain a deeper understanding of truthfulness and falsehood, enhancing their ability to discern deception in various contexts.

    Haunting mysteries from America's Heartland
Indiana rightly prides itself as a safe place to live. Nevertheless, the Hoosier State has experienced its share of unexplained deaths and unsolved disappearances. The state's oldest missing child case, the disappearance of four-year-old Richmond Byers from Seelyville in 1904, may never be solved. The 1998 attempted bombing of the Tippecanoe County Courthouse remains one of the only unsolved instances of domestic terrorism in the United States. The identities of Bedford's so-called Carnival Babies will likely forever be unknown. The 1929 murder of Elizabeth Miller may have been the result of the community's belief that she was a witch, but the true culprit has never been brought to light.
Author of Unsolved Indiana Autumn Bones explores some of Indiana's least known unsolved mysteries.

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice. “Alon,

Where have you been all this time, man of my dreams?
How did you open my warm, beating heart so forcefully?
How did you penetrate and establish yourself in every fiber of my being?
How did you make me fall in love with you with nothing more than your voice?

Where have you been all this time, man of my dreams?
How did you almost effortlessly shatter my defensive walls?
How did you make me feel like a queen,
how did you do it using only your voice?”

The book "The Voices from Within" portrays an entire world that lies
between the layers of reality we inhabit. It's a suspense novel interwoven
    with a compelling romance.

I'm sharing my story with you, a tale that is extraordinary in several
respects, setting it apart from other suspense novels.
Everything in it was credible and inconceivable. The events it describes
pulled me deep, deep into their world, immersing me completely.
The story presents an authentic reality to anyone who has lived it, and
it's extremely hard to persuade them to even try to see that reality might
    actually be different.

The story raises difficult and complex questions about the ways and
means of coping with that problematic reality, which is so hard to live with.

This is an audiobook of Bodhi Leaves No. 90 by M. B. Werapitiya, Your Best Friend: And Other Essays, narrated by Tejendra Patel. The print edition can be found in the Pariyatti Edition of Collected Bodhi Leaves Vol. III. The eBook of Bodhi Leaves No. 90 can be downloaded from the BPS website.

    Excerpt:

"To understand ourselves, we must live with ourselves and know all about ourselves. The mind for that matter is flickering, fickle, difficult to guard and control and flutters like a fish taken out of its watery abode and thrown upon the land. Somebody causes you hurt and although the aggressor has disappeared from sight, the hurt grows within you and every so often keeps surfacing with an overpowering intensity to give you a warp. Then again, you see something that has captured your attention and your mind has instantly photographed it from every conceivable angle with a see-through lens, developed it in your mental dark-room, brought out the prints and enlargements with the skill of an expert cameraman and processor rolled into one. Similarly, all the sense faculties and the mind are of high sensitivity and respond to anything and everything exciting. If the degree of excitement is not sufficiently satisfying, you step it up with the use of drugs, intoxicants and poisons. This activity goes on unabated and makes of you a human derelict. A wise person living in his mind protects himself holding himself dear. Such a person whose senses are subdued, whose pride is destroyed and is free from corruptions, is calm of mind, speech and action and rightly knows, and is perfectly peaceful and equipoised."

As Apollo 11’s name suggests, there were actually a number of Apollo missions that came before, many of which included testing the rockets and different orbital and lunar modules in orbit. In fact, it wasn’t until Apollo 8 that a manned vehicle was sent towards the Moon and back, and before that mission, the most famous Apollo mission was Apollo 1, albeit for all the wrong reasons.
There were no delusions regarding the dangers of manned space travel, but they were brought home on January 27, 1967, when all three astronauts were killed by a fire that ignited in the cabin during a launch rehearsal. To this day, there is still debate over what ignited the fire, but the disaster made clear that the modules being used by NASA had a series of fatal flaws.
In the decades after the Apollo program, American space shuttles flew over 130 missions and successfully completed over 98% of them, but unfortunately, the two most famous missions were the ones that ended tragically aboard the Challenger and Columbia. The Space Shuttle Challenger was the most heavily used space shuttle in the three years it was operational, carrying the first minority astronaut and woman astronaut into space. Challenger was also the first space shuttle to complete a landing at night.
The notorious date of the Challenger disaster was commemorated by the crew of the Columbia while they were in space in 2003, and a few days later, on February 1, the Columbia was due to land at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 09:16. Only a few members of the press were present to watch the landing - this was, after all, supposed to be a routine return from a routine mission, the 113th for the shuttle program and the 28th for Columbia, one of the oldest Space Shuttles.
