Summary

From the moment the starting flag drops to the instant riders vanish into the mist-shrouded peaks, the Isle of Man TT stands as the ultimate test of courage—and the deadliest race on Earth. This electrifying chronicle plunges you into the heart of a century-old institution where motorcycles blast through narrow public roads at breakneck speeds, and stone walls replace safety fences. Through gripping first-hand accounts, expert analysis, and haunting archival imagery, discover:The Origins of Legend: How a small island’s winding lanes transformed into the world’s most demanding circuit.Triumphs Against All Odds: Profiles of riders—man and woman—who defied physics, injury, and despair to claim glory on asphalt edged with peril.Tragedy in Every Turn: The stories behind the more than 250 fatalities that echo through Ballaugh Bridge and Glen Helen, and the ongoing debate over tradition versus safety. The People Behind the Madness: Meet the mechanics who sweat over every bolt, the marshals who stand vigil in rain and fog, and the fans whose obsession fuels the TT’s thunderous roar.Technology vs. Tradition: How cutting-edge innovations—from smart barriers to biometric sensors—seek to tame a 37.73-mile course that refuses to yield.Whether you’re a die-hard fan or a newcomer drawn by the siren song of speed, this book immerses you in the TT’s unrelenting drama—where victory is inches from disaster, and every lap feels like a brush with fate.

The Highs. The Heartbreaks. The Hangovers.
The Personal. The Vulnerable. The Downright Absurd.
    IT'S TIME TO RELOAD.
As was widely predicted, our first book, The Good, The Bad & The Rugby – Unleashed, did not win a Pulitzer Prize. It did, however, scoop Sports Entertainment Book of the Year at the 2025 Charles Tyrwhitt Sports Book Awards (and sold quite a lot of copies), so here we are again, back for a sequel.
What more have we to say? It’s a fair question. Hask can mine more new material from a trip to the supermarket than most people can from an entire lifetime – and you won’t be surprised to learn that he hasn’t just been hanging around Asda since our last book came out. He recently turned 40, he’s been through much personal turmoil, he’s done an awful lot of DJing – and he’s had a lot of arguments. Expect much of that, and even some thoughts on rugby, in the following pages.
As for Tins, you’ll find out about his early days in rugby, how he had to fight to make it, what he thinks of the state of the game, and his plans to get it back on track. Meanwhile, Alex will tell you all about his career in broadcasting, from making (‘disgusting’) tea and coffee, and presenting some of the greatest rugby matches in history, to getting binned by Sky.
We should end by begging you to pardon our previous flippancy. It was, of course, lovely to win that award, as well as very surprising. In fact, The Good, The Bad & The Rugby will never stop surprising us, and its continuing success is largely down to you – our wonderful listeners, viewers and now readers. We do hope you enjoy what follows and that you keep coming back for more.
Winners of the Charles Tyrwhitt Sports Book Awards 2025 Sports Entertainment Book of the Year, for their previous book The Good, The Bad and The Rugby – Unleashed.
This latest Sunday Times bestselling book is not just a memoir, but a journey through the world of webcasting and podcasting. The humour and autobiography elements make it a must-read for fans of non-fiction.
For fans of Rachel Murphy (Loose Head), Luke Upton (Hard Men of Rugby), Peter Crouch (How to Be an Ex-Footballer), and Jonny Wilkinson (Jonny).

The New York Times bestseller that's “a celebration of sport fishing in America, its history, locales, and impact” (New York Times Book Review). An essential book for everyone who loves casting a line into our nation's waters, The American Fisherman, by outdoorsman Willie Robertson (CEO of Duck Commander and star of A&E’s Duck Dynasty) and historian William Doyle, reveals that in the U.S.A., fishing is far more than a pastime—it has shaped our past and defined our character in remarkable ways. This generously illustrated celebration of fish, anglers, and our country’s treasured wild places traces fishing’s astonishing impact on the United States and its people, from its settlement and founding, to powering its economy and inspiring our creativity and faith. Blessed by perhaps the most diverse and abundant waters in the world, Native Americans were the continent’s first master anglers and incorporated fish into their spiritual beliefs and legends. When the Vikings, the earliest European visitors, arrived, they were drawn across the Atlantic Ocean by the bountiful fishing grounds of North America’s East Coast. During the colonial era, fish helped save the Pilgrims, make George Washington wealthy, and win the American Revolution. From New England cod to Pacific Northwest salmon to Gulf shrimp, the fishing industry has fed and financed centuries of Americans in every region of the country.A spirited and unique look at the U.S.A. and its people, The American Fisherman will hook every sportsman from the first page and forever deepen their appreciation for the fishing life.INCLUDES MORE THAN seventy-five PHOTOS
