The Passeur is a chilling exploration of fate, darkness, and the uncanny, written by Robert W. Chambers, master of psychological and supernatural horror. In this story, Chambers weaves a tense, atmospheric tale of a mysterious figure known as the “passeur” — a sinister guide who ferries souls across the threshold between life and death.
The narrator becomes entangled in events that straddle the line between reality and nightmare, encountering spectral presences, cryptic warnings, and the inescapable pull of a destiny he cannot fully understand. Chambers’ narrative is rich in suspense, blending a brooding Gothic sensibility with moments of quiet, unsettling terror. The horror is subtle but pervasive, arising from the unknown, the unseen, and the inexorable forces that shape human life.
Narrated by Amazon bestselling horror author Jonathan Dunne, this performance captures Chambers’ eerie atmosphere, mounting dread, and the uncanny tension that makes The Passeur a quintessential tale of late 19th-century supernatural horror — a story where crossing the threshold may reveal more than the living are ready to face.

The Great Gatsby is a 1925 novel by American writer F. Scott Fitzgerald. Set in the Jazz Age on Long Island, the novel depicts narrator Nick Carraway's interactions with mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and Gatsby's obsession to reunite with his former lover, Daisy Buchanan. A youthful romance Fitzgerald had with socialite Ginevra King, and the riotous parties he attended on Long Island's North Shore in 1922 inspired the novel. Following a move to the French Riviera, he completed a rough draft in 1924. He submitted the draft to editor Maxwell Perkins, who persuaded Fitzgerald to revise the work over the following winter. After his revisions, Fitzgerald was satisfied with the text, but remained ambivalent about the book's title and considered several alternatives. After its publication by Scribner's in April 1925, The Great Gatsby received generally favorable reviews, although some literary critics believed it did not hold up to Fitzgerald's previous efforts and signaled the end of the author's literary achievements. Despite the warm critical reception, Gatsby was a commercial failure. The book sold fewer than 20,000 copies by October, and Fitzgerald's hopes of a monetary windfall from the novel were unrealized. When the author died in 1940, he believed himself to be a failure and his work forgotten. After his death, the novel faced a critical and scholarly re-examination amid World War II, and it soon became a core part of most American high school curricula and a focus of American popular culture. Numerous stage and film adaptations followed in the subsequent decades. Gatsby continues to attract popular and scholarly attention. The novel was most recently adapted to film in 2013 by director Baz Luhrmann, while contemporary scholars emphasize the novel's treatment of social class, inherited wealth compared to those who are self-made, race, environmentalism, and its cynical attitude towards the American dream.

"The Lost World" is a novel written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the British author best known for creating the iconic detective Sherlock Holmes. Published in 1912, this adventure novel stands apart from Doyle's more famous detective fiction and is known for its exploration of the unknown and its contribution to the "lost world" literary genre.

The story is centered around the character of Professor Challenger, an eccentric and larger-than-life scientist who, like Sherlock Holmes, became one of Conan Doyle's memorable literary creations. Professor Challenger claims to have discovered evidence of prehistoric life in the Amazon rainforest and invites a group of individuals, including the narrator Edward Malone, to join him on an expedition to verify his findings.

The group embarks on a perilous journey into the uncharted and remote plateau in South America, where they encounter a world seemingly frozen in time. Dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures roam the plateau, and the explorers must navigate not only the dangers of the natural world but also the challenges of their own personalities and relationships.

"The Lost World" is a pioneering work in the "lost world" subgenre of adventure fiction, which involves the discovery of isolated and prehistoric environments that time forgot. It predates other famous works in this genre, such as Edgar Rice Burroughs' "The Land That Time Forgot" and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's contemporary H.G. Wells' "The Time Machine."

The novel combines elements of science fiction, adventure, and exploration with themes of human curiosity, bravery, and the clash between the modern world and the primeval past. It also touches on the ethical implications of encountering and documenting creatures thought to be extinct.
