The domed US Capitol Building is recognized around the world as America's most iconic symbol, the forum for representative democracy, and the physical stage for the transfer of executive power. As the United States grew in size and complexity, the Capitol was built, rebuilt, enlarged, and extended many times under the direction of the few who have served as Architect of the Capitol. This official heads the agency dedicated to preserving and upgrading this magnificent structure, and all the buildings and grounds of Capitol Hill.

In Under the Dome, Alan Hantman, the Architect of the Capitol from 1997 to 2007, provides a personal account of how the Capitol works as a physical space; who runs it, how and why decisions are made about the security of the Capitol and the people who work there, and how politicians think about the Capitol Building. He also recounts security threats to the Capitol during his tenure—including the 1998 shooting murder of two police officers and the Capitol evacuation on 9/11 as a hijacked airplane approached—that underscore one of his greatest challenges as Architect. The tension between securing the Capitol and opening it to the public drove the design and construction under his direction of the Capitol Visitor Center, the largest expansion of the Capitol in its history, increasing its size by seventy percent.

A Practical Guide to Decorating Your Home with Purpose and Personality

Full of practical action items, The Story of Your Home is your room-by-room guide to creating a home that reflects the personality and purpose of the people who actually live there. So often the designs in magazines and on Pinterest just aren't quite . . . you. You want your home to tell your story, to function well for your family, to make your guests feel at home.

Our homes are where we create memories, build relationships, and find sanctuary. With the help of interior designer Courtney Warren and her DesignSense Quiz, you'll start by determining the heart behind your home and the story you want to tell through it. She'll guide you through your house, one room at a time, providing tools to stretch you beyond mere aesthetics to the true essence of how you live and what you want your home to say to the people who live in it and those you invite in. Each chapter ends with a section tackling the most asked about design topics.

This Must Be the Place explores how music can make cities better.

This Must Be the Place introduces and examines music's relationship to cities. Not the influence cities have on music, but the powerful impact music can have on how cities are developed, built, managed, and governed.

Told in an accessible way through personal stories from cities around the world—including London, Melbourne, Nashville, Austin, and Zurich—This Must Be the Place takes a truly global perspective on the ways music is integral to everyday life but neglected in public policy.

Arguing for the transformative role of artists and musicians in a post-pandemic world, This Must Be The Place not only examines the powerful impact music can have on our cities, but also serves as a how-to guide and toolkit for music-lovers, artists, and activists everywhere to begin the process of reinventing the communities they live in.

Over a decade, Fishamble commissioned and called for submissions of tiny plays that reflected major changes in Irish society from 2011-2021. Inviting playwrights to submit plays of less than 600 words, the company produced 50 tiny plays in Tiny Plays for Ireland, 10 tiny plays in Tiny Plays 24/7, and 10 tiny plays in partnership with ESB in Tiny Plays for a Brighter Future.
These productions of tiny plays created a patchwork quilt of theatre to reflect the times through which we were living.  They were performed in Project Arts Centre Dublin, Irish Arts Center New York, and Kennedy Center Washington DC, as well as shared online.  This anthology publishes all 70 tiny plays, providing an invaluable resource of four-minute plays for actors, directors, students, and teachers.

Joseph Frank "Buster" Keaton (October 4, 1895 - February 1, 1966), born in Piqua, Kansas, was an American actor, comedian and filmmaker. He is best known for his silent films during the 1920s, in which he performed physical comedy and inventive stunts. He frequently maintained a stoic, deadpan facial expression that became his trademark and earned him the nickname "The Great Stone Face." In the following recording, from an April 17, 1964 television interview, Keaton reflects on his sixty-year career in show business.
