Summary

The Complete Works of Oscar Wilde is a definitive collection that encapsulates the essence of Wilde's literary genius. This anthology showcases a diverse range of genres, including plays, poetry, essays, and his celebrated novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray. Navigating through a myriad of themes such as aestheticism, morality, and the complexities of identity, Wilde's prose is characterized by its wit, intricate wordplay, and profound social commentary. Set against the backdrop of the late Victorian era, his works engage with the contradictions of his time, challenging societal norms and exploring the dualities of human experience with an unparalleled depth and irony. Oscar Wilde, an iconic figure of the 19th century, was not just a playwright and author but a remarkable social commentator whose life mirrored the very essence of his work. Born in Dublin in 1854, Wilde's exposure to classic literature and art profoundly influenced his artistic development. His flamboyant personality and controversial lifestyle, culminating in his trials and imprisonment, provide critical insight into the repressive cultural framework he critiqued, imbuing his works with a sense of urgency and relevance that resonates even today. For readers seeking a comprehensive introduction to one of literature's most enigmatic and charismatic figures, The Complete Works of Oscar Wilde serves as an indispensable resource. Through its collection, readers are invited to explore Wilde's acerbic wit and sharp intellect, experiencing the full range of human emotion and social criticism woven within his narratives. Samuel Langhorne Clemens was born in Florida, Missouri on the 30th November 1835 and is far better known by his pen name of Mark Twain. An American writer and humorist of the first order he is perhaps best known for his novels ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’ and its sequel ‘The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn’ which are often described with that mythic line The Great American Novel.
Twain grew up in Hannibal, Missouri which would later provide the backdrop to these great novels. Apprenticed to a printer he also became a typesetter and then a master riverboat pilot on the Mississippi. Later, heading west with his brother Orion to make his fortune, he failed at gold mining and instead turned to journalism and thence his true calling as a writer of humorous stories where his wit and humor sparkled from every paragraph, his craft evident with every page and punctured target.
A staunch supporter of copyright protections this helped him keep much of the wealth his writing created, though much money was also lost on investments that he pursued in his love for science and technology as well as investing in his own inventions.
Twain was born during a visit by Halley’s comet, and he predicted that he would go out with it as well. He died the day after its subsequent return on 21st April 1910, at his house, Stormfield, located in Redding, Connecticut.

John F. Kennedy was the 35th President of the United States as President and the country's youngest and first Catholic leader. His singularity foreshadowed a sort of challenge to his presidency from the start. Many people were taken aback by his assassination. It was the height of the Cold War and the United States' involvement in Vietnam. John F. Kennedy was elected President on January 20, 1961, by a razor-thin margin of 113,000 votes out of 69 million against his Republican opponent, Richard Nixon2. He was almost immediately confronted with the Cuban missile crisis, which he handled carefully, allowing him to defuse tensions and avert war. This immediately helped to establish a new image for him, which is still held in high regard today.
On November 22, 1963, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, President of the United States of America, was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. Since nearly 50 years after President John F. Kennedy's assassination, much speculation, theory, and movement have existed. The only remaining mystery from the previous century appears to be this one.
