Many American Christians have good intentions, working hard to welcome immigrants with hospitality and solidarity. But how can we do that in a way that empowers our immigrant neighbors rather than pushing them to the fringes of white-dominant culture and keeping them as outsiders? That's exactly the question Karen González explores in Beyond Welcome.

A Guatemalan immigrant, González draws from the Bible and her own experiences to examine why the traditional approach to immigration ministries and activism is at best incomplete and at worst harmful. By advocating for putting immigrants in the center of the conversation, González helps listeners grow in discipleship and recognize themselves in their immigrant neighbors.

Accessible to any Christian who is called to serve immigrants, this book equips listeners to take action to dismantle white supremacy and xenophobia in the church. They will emerge with new insight into our shared humanity and need for belonging and liberation.

    United Arab Emirates Conquering...

The United Arab Emirates has emerged in a few decades to sell itself as an enlightened, modern, liberal beacon in the midst of a dark and chaotic Arab world. As the first country in the region to implement a "Vision" (Abu Dhabi Vision 2030), the UAE quickly became a resounding success beyond its borders. This is the bright side.
The dark side: the UAE contributes to the stifling of democracies in Muslim countries. When they are not waging war, as in Yemen, they interfere, as no Arab power has done before, in the affairs of other countries, namely, Algeria, Egypt, Syria, Sudan, Tunisia.
Abu Dhabi does not care about the Arab revolutions - for ten years, the country has engaged in a powder keg policy, which heralds new dangers for the region's equilibrium.

Populism is a growing threat to human rights. They are appropriated, distorted, turned into empty words or even their opposite. The contributors to this volume examine these practices using the example of freedom of religion or belief, a human right that has become a particular target of right-wing populists and extremists worldwide. The contributions not only show the rhetorical patterns of appropriation and distortion, but also demonstrate for various countries which social dynamics favor the appropriation in each case and propose how to strengthen human rights and the culture of debate in democratic societies.

Jim Garrison (1921-1992) was the District Attorney of Orleans Parish, Louisiana, from 1962 to 1973. He is best known for his investigations into the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Garrison was able to subpoena the Zapruder film from Life magazine. As a result, the American public was able to see the film for the first time. Garrison made the case that the Kennedy assassination was too complex to be carried out by Oswald alone. Later, he was played by Kevin Costner in Oliver Stone's 1991 feature film, "JFK." This recording is part of a speech he gave on the assassination.
