North American edition with an exclusive afterword and photographs In early October 2023, Palestinian Plestia Alaqad was a recent university graduate dreaming of a career as a journalist. But by the end of November, her homeland was unrecognizable—and she was broadcasting videos of violence and destruction to millions online, known across the world as "The Eyes of Gaza." On the morning of October 7, 2023, 21-year-old Plestia Alaqad wakes to a flurry of messages and headlines: Gaza under bombardment. Civilians flee waves of Israeli strikes. In a few short days, she and her family will be at the epicenter of a violence that is all too familiar for Palestinians—but this time, she knows, things will never be the same. A series of diary extracts from the weeks following October 7, The Eyes of Gaza is a gutting, on-the-ground record of the turmoil and destruction endured by the men, women, and children of Palestine. As Alaqad flees from neighborhood to neighborhood, from hospital to hospital, she documents all she sees—the destruction of beloved homes, the waves of bombs, and most of all, the boundless bravery and generosity of her people—all the while trying to memorize the faces of those around her "so somebody will have known them before the end," wondering if, one day, her own journal will be discovered amidst the rubble. A document of the indomitable Palestinian spirit, told through the voice of one ordinary young woman, The Eyes of Gaza is a tribute to Alaqad's beloved Gaza, a paean to the courage and endurance of Palestine, and a manifesto of hope for its future.

“The work Ruby is doing is liberating.”—Glennon Doyle, New York Times bestselling author of Untamed“A startling, confronting, and liberating treatise.” —Holly Whitaker, New York Times bestselling author of Quit Like a WomanWhat is “woman” if not “mother”? Anything she wants to be.Foregoing motherhood has traditionally marked a woman as “other.” With no official place setting for her in our society, she has hovered on the sidelines: the quirky girl, the neurotic career obsessive, the “eccentric” aunt. Instead of continuing to paint women without kids as sad, self-obsessed, or somehow dysfunctional, what if we saw them as boldly forging a first-in-a-civilization vision for a fully autonomous womankind? Or as journalist and thought leader Ruby Warrington asks, What if being a woman without kids were in fact its own kind of legacy?Taking in themes from intergenerational healing to feminism to environmentalism, this personal look and anthropological dig into a stubbornly taboo topic is a timely and brave reframing of what it means not to be a mom. Our experiences and discourse around non-motherhood are central to women’s ongoing fight for gender equality. And whether we are childless by design or circumstance, we can live without regret, shame, or compromise.Bold and tenderhearted, Women Without Kids seeks first and foremost to help valorize a path that is the natural consequence of women having more say about the choices we make and how our lives play out. Within this, it unites the unsung sisterhood of non-mothers—no longer pariahs or misfits, but as a vital part of our evolution and collective healing as women, as humans, and as a global family.

Philosophy is not a "Lifestyle". Each individual does not have his or her own "Logic". Philosophy is not just a hypothesis about something. Nor is Philosophy a conviction or a wish. Logic is an action: a mission after intelligence. Philosophy is a movement of thought. Philosophy is a specific one of a kind sort of thought or style of considering. Logic is not to be mistaken for its item. What a savant gives is a group of rational thought NOT a Philosophy. A philosopher authorizes a Philosophy, a journey after intelligence.
Philosophy is not what collection of thought one might want to call one's own or might want to have faith in; a decision based on individual inclinations or sentiments. The reasoning is an interest. One can be philosophical. One can be a logician. One can NOT pick a Philosophy. Philosophy, seeing that it might be connected at all to a "lifestyle", is a type of intuition intended to guide activity or to endorse a lifestyle. The insightful lifestyle , if there is one, is shown in an existence in which activity is held to be best coordinated when philosophical reflection has given that heading; e.g., SOCRATES the worldview of a thinker.
Philosophy is a movement of thought, a kind of consideration. Philosophy is basic and extensive thought, the most basic and complete way of deduction which the human species has yet formulated. This scholarly process incorporates both an expository and manufactured method of operation. Philosophy as a basic and complete procedure of thought includes determining disarray, unmasking suspicions, uncovering presuppositions, recognizing significance, testing positions, revising twists, searching for reasons, looking at world perspectives and addressing calculated structures. It additionally incorporates dispersing obliviousness, advancing comprehension, expanding background, extending skylines, creating creative energy , controlling feeling, investigating values, altering convictions by balanced request, setting up propensities for acting, broadening contemplations, orchestrating information and questing for intelligence.
This was just what philosophy is anyway; want to know more about it? Read the entire book which covers the following topics:What is philosophy? The origins of philosophyBelief systems, postmodernism and uncritical thinking.Philosophy, opinions, and right answersBranches of philosophy

Published to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day, an unforgettable never-before-told first-person account of World War II: the true story of an American paratrooper who survived D-Day, was captured and imprisoned in a Nazi work camp, and made a daring escape to freedom.

Now at 95, one of the few living members of the Greatest Generation shares his experiences at last in one of the most remarkable World War II stories ever told. As the Allied Invasion of Normandy launched in the pre-dawn hours of June 6, 1944, Henry Langrehr, an American paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne, was among the thousands of Allies who parachuted into occupied France. Surviving heavy anti-aircraft fire, he crashed through the glass roof of a greenhouse in Sainte-Mère-Église. While many of the soldiers in his unit died, Henry and other surviving troops valiantly battled enemy tanks to a standstill. Then, on June 29th, Henry was captured by the Nazis. The next phase of his incredible journey was beginning.
Kept for a week in the outer ring of a death camp, Henry witnessed the Nazis’ unspeakable brutality—the so-called Final Solution, with people marched to their deaths, their bodies discarded like cords of wood. Transported to a work camp, he endured horrors of his own when he was forced to live in unbelievable squalor and labor in a coal mine with other POWs. Knowing they would be worked to death, he and a friend made a desperate escape. When a German soldier cornered them in a barn, the friend was fatally shot; Henry struggled with the soldier, killing him and taking his gun. Perilously traveling westward toward Allied controlled land on foot, Henry faced the great ethical and moral dilemmas of war firsthand, needing to do whatever it took to survive. Finally, after two weeks behind enemy lines, he found an American unit and was rescued.
Awaiting him at home was Arlene, who, like millions of other American women, went to work in factories and offices to build the armaments Henry and the Allies needed for victory. Whatever It Took is her story, too, bringing to life the hopes and fears of those on the homefront awaiting their loved ones to return.
A tale of heroism, hope, and survival featuring 30 photographs, Whatever It Took is a timely reminder of the human cost of freedom and a tribute to unbreakable human courage and spirit in the darkest of times.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a man who wants to receive his bride on their wedding day must overcome hellish obstacles designed by a sadistic gaggle of bridesmaids in a traditional activity popularly termed as 'gatecrashing'.

Contrary to popular belief, gatecrashing is hardly a time-honoured Chinese wedding tradition. So how did this activity attain its hallowed position in Singapore Chinese culture today? A writer attempts to find out how gatecrashing in Singapore came about by trawling through books, newspaper articles, Reddit, and emailing professors, wedding photographers, and planners.
