Summary

In "Mostly Mary," Mary Edward Feehan masterfully weaves a narrative that is both introspective and richly textured, exploring the intricacies of personal identity within the framework of societal expectations. Through a series of poignant vignettes, Feehan employs a lyrical style, drawing on her background in poetry to craft vivid imagery and emotional depth. The book exists within the modern literary context of self-discovery narratives, reminiscent of the confessional style popularized in contemporary literature, while also nodding to the epistolary traditions of the past. Mary Edward Feehan, drawing from her diverse experiences as a poet, educator, and cultural commentator, infuses "Mostly Mary" with a unique perspective on the feminine experience. Her academic background and passion for advocating women's voices in literature undoubtedly influenced her narrative choices, as she artfully examines the intersections of personal and collective identities. Feehan'Äôs life experiences, coupled with her keen observations of the world around her, bring authenticity and resonance to her writing. Recommended for readers interested in intimate narratives and explorations of identity, "Mostly Mary" offers a compelling journey that invites reflection and conversation. Feehan's eloquent prose, combined with her insightful observations, creates a profound reading experience that lingers long after the last page is turned.

Hindsight is the first collection of poetry released by Ivanova. In many ways, Hindsight is an autobiography, capturing Sofiya's pre-teen and early teen years, and all the feelings that come with it.
It covers topics such as losing your family pet, leaving behind your childhood, wanting to be special and important, your parents being imperfect people, mental health, etc, etc. And, of course, figuring out love. In Russian (the poet's first language), there's a saying that goes, “the first pancake comes out as a lump”, and that applies to love too. The first few pancakes, in this case. There are a lot of love poems. There are a lot of bitter poems, too, because art is a great outlet for anger. Those read as though they should have a mic drop at the end.
Hindsight not only reads like a coming of age collection as an introduction to the world of a new and gifted poet. But, it is also an exorcism and celebration of the past as she becomes a poet that sees the world with clarity and beauty; a poet that we all need.

.Mrs. Warren's Profession is a play written by George Bernard Shaw in 1893, and first performed in London in 1902 but was banned after two performances because of the profession talked about. The play is about a former prostitute, now a madam (brothel proprietor), who attempts to come to terms with her disapproving daughter. It illustrates Shaw's belief that the act of prostitution was not caused by moral failure but by economic necessity. It also has a lot to say about the hypocrisy of English society that profited from many despised and illegal professions and used people in despicable ways but pretended to look down on them. This was probably why it was banned, not because of the 'profession' of Mrs. Warren, but because it exposed very highly placed people doing nasty things to make money

INTO LIGHT is the sixth poetry collection from the international, award-winning poet, musician and artist, M. D. Friedman, and is his first full-length poetry book. It reflects the experiences, observations, dreams and epiphanies of a lifetime, speaks quietly about the calling of the heart and loudly about injustices of the world. Eclectic in style and content, M. D. Friedman's poetry connects both the inner and outer realities of a life well-lived.INTO LIGHT Volume One: The Poems of M. D. Friedman, the audio book, contains the first 23 poems from M. D. Friedman's INTO LIGHT poetry book. For all things INTO LIGHT, e.g., print, e-book, audio book, album, musical and video poetry rendentions, please see liquidlightpress.com/IntoLight.htm. These poems are the masterwork of a different kind of man than most men I’ve known in my 73 years. He is, as we used to say, "his own man." More than a disciple of some orthodox poetry "church," you'll meet a mindful, funny, wise and compassionate person in these texts, unafraid to speak honestly and vulnerably. From Li Po to Robert Johnson, memory care to contemporary politics, grieving lament to defiant slam, MD lays it all out about as clearly as a poet can while leaving enough tantalizing mystery to feed the reader's soul for days on end. He really believes "It is a miracle to be alive."! His poems encourage me to believe it, too!!~ wayne a. gilbert, poet and Colorado Governor's Creative Leadership Award winnerThis long anticipated poetry collection opens like a portal that will rainbow a monochrome world. Reminiscent of Rumi and Hafiz, you will taste the landscape with your tongue, unable to separate your own inner body from the mountains and sky you inhabit, “not the waterfall, but the water falling,” ... “no longer sculpted by gravity.” A love poem to life herself, you will want to take your time, savoring each languid line. “I am taken by how much I need this.”!Valerie A Szarek, award winning poet

Poetry. A form of words that seems so elegantly simple in one verse and so cleverly complex in another. Each poet has a particular style, an individual and unique way with words and yet each of us seems to recognise the path and destination of where the verses lead, even if sometimes the full comprehension may be a little beyond us.

Through the centuries every culture has produced verse to symbolize and to describe everything from everyday life, natural wonders, the human condition and even in its more hubristic moments, the crushing triumph of an enemy.

In the volumes of this series, we take a look at poetry through the prism of individual regions of England, or sometimes more quaintly known as ‘Albion’, or ‘Blighty’, through the centuries of its gloried history.

England, despite its perception of reserve and under-statement has, in reality, strode the global stage at various time in many things, both good and bad, from Empire to long distance running. Here our focus in on its literature. Famed for its fiction and dramas, it is equally admired for its plethora of gifted poets and the dazzling verse which has added so much to its artistic legacy. These classic poets are wonders of their age and of their art. Genius is written in their names.

In this volume we explore the West Midlands, land-locked, yet containing its second largest city, it is a cornucopia of landscapes and contrasts that make it distinct and yet a part of the whole. And whether the poets are famous or obscure their talents remind us all of our inheritance of words.
