Sinopse

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott Little Women is a coming-of-age novel written by American novelist Louisa May Alcott (1832–1888).
Originally published in two volumes in 1868 and 1869, Alcott wrote the book over several months at the request of her publisher.

The story follows the lives of the four March sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy—and details their passage from childhood to womanhood. Loosely based on the lives of the author and her three sisters,: 202  it is classified as an autobiographical or semi-autobiographical novel.

Little Women was an immediate commercial and critical success, with readers eager for more about the characters. Alcott quickly completed a second volume (titled Good Wives in the United Kingdom, though the name originated with the publisher and not Alcott). It was also met with success.

The two volumes were issued in 1880 as a single novel titled Little Women. Alcott subsequently wrote two sequels to her popular work, both also featuring the March sisters: Little Men (1871) and Jo's Boys (1886).

The novel has been said to address three major themes: "domesticity, work, and true love, all of them interdependent and each necessary to the achievement of its heroine's individual identity.": 200  According to Sarah Elbert, Alcott created a new form of literature, one that took elements from romantic children's fiction and combined it with others from sentimental novels, resulting in a totally new genre. Elbert argues that within Little Women can be found the first vision of the "All-American girl" and that her various aspects are embodied in the differing March sisters.

Oh what a difference a day makes.

When I was back at Lady Agnue’s School for Princesses & Other Female Protagonists, I used to wonder how I would make it through an entire day of classes, magic training, and homework.

As the legendary magic flux known as the Vicennalia Aurora emerged, I wondered how I could possibly overthrow the evil king of Camelot, defeat Glinda in Oz, and get back in time to stop the antagonists from breaking out of Alderon and invading my world of Book—all in one day.

I guess that’s what good friends are for. Good friends, and magic. My epic powers to give life and take it away were getting stronger and being heightened by the Vicennalia Aurora, so I had the ammunition to challenge every obstacle and villain that came our way. However, one problem remained: How could I unleash my magic to achieve our goals and defeat our enemies while keeping the power from corrupting me?

From Merlin to the Fairy Godmother Supreme, everywhere I’d gone in recent days I’d been supplemented by powerful people who all thought they knew what I was capable of and how my morality should develop. But they didn’t understand my burden. I wanted to save all the realms that needed me; I wanted to save everyone. But could I do that and save myself from succumbing to the disease ingrained in my magic? I didn’t know.

I sure missed the days of homework though.

Available for the very first time in English, this ‘lost media’ episode of Agaton Sax sees the Swedish detective leave his native land once again, this time travelling in style to experience the glitz and glamour of London.
Our super sleuth must decipher the mystery of a sticky-fingered thief whose calamitous crimes see him targeting a group of billionaires and their mountains of money. Flown via private jet to a castle in England to catch our corrupt culprit, Sax enlists the aid of his trusted friend and Scotland Yard professional, Inspector Lispington.
But will the duo discover who is behind the baffling billionaires’ bankruptcy? Or have the intrepid investigators finally met their match?
The Agaton Sax series of books were first published in Sweden, later being translated into English and printed with illustrations by much-loved artist Quentin Blake (perhaps best known for his work on the books of Roald Dahl). The English translations became immensely popular, achieving the status of the most re-issued mystery & detective series in the history of Nordic children's literature.
Now, for the first time, Oak Tree Books is proud to publish the entire Agaton Sax series in audio format, newly translated for the next generation and expertly narrated by Barnaby Eaton-Jones.
