Summary

There can come a point in life where you’ll always remember what came before and what came after.

Rachel is a thirty-year-old married Jewish woman who’s wanted a baby for a long time. Katie’s a thirty-two-year-old single, catholic woman who has been trying to find a man who’ll stick around. We follow the women individually as they find themselves pregnant—Rachel happily, Katie, not. As they enter their second trimester, they’re shocked to hear that there’s something very wrong with the babies they’re carrying. Rachel and Katie meet in a support group and bond as they help each other through not only the excruciating decision they need to make but through the issues that come with making that decision. The Stories We Cannot Tell explores friendship, loss, love, hope, and family.

Praise for The Stories We Cannot Tell

“. . . a fast-paced, beautifully written tribute to what we can and can’t control and who we love in the process. A true delight. This book is GOOD!”—Zibby Owens, author of Bookends: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and Literature and host of Moms Don’t Have Time to Read Books

“Leslie Rasmussen deftly delves into the heartbreaking world of difficult pregnancies and the tough decisions that need to be made along the way. I can only assume by the heart with which she writes this story, that she has some experience with it. The Stories We Cannot Tell will keep you turning pages just to see if it all works out.”—Laurie Gelman, bestselling author of the Class Mom Series

“Keenly observed and brimming with empathy for characters who you can’t help but root for, The Stories We Cannot Tell explores the complexities of motherhood as well as our ability to choose who to call our family. Leslie Rasmussen brings a fresh and welcome perspective to women’s fiction.”—Camille Pagán, bestselling author of Everything Must Go.

“. . . brilliant, timely. Astonishing. Caught in the middle of a whirlwind of work—her words inspired me, lifted me, awakened me—yes, breathed life into me. She is a writer to be reckoned with. To be taken mighty seriously. She’s funny & poignant. A lethal combination. Given the world we’re living in, this book is a MUST read. Buy it, share it . . . gift it. Re-read it. I will—buy it, gift it, share it. Re-read it. Brava, Leslie. Brava!”—Amy Ferris, screenwriter, and author of Marrying George Clooney: Confessions from a Midlife Crisis

Humans and Werewolves do not mix. I tried that once and all I have to show for it is a broken heart. No thanks.

When I have to pretend that Daphne is my mate in order to find the mystical artifact threatening my clan, I know it's going to end badly. But I'll do anything to save my family, so I decide to act like the cheerful bookworm with the body of a goddess doesn't affect me in the least.

Which was a big fat lie even before I discovered the one thing that would make all of this ten times more complicated. You see Daphne is my true mate.

Now every day that I spend with her is a special kind of torture. Her very touch makes my body burn with desires I'd buried a long time ago. I need to claim Daphne, to make her mine.

But I can't, I won't. She may accept that I'm a Werewolf, but Daphne doesn't know the dark beast that lurks under my skin. If she did, she'd run screaming.

So I'm going to keep my distance, for both our sakes. And when the mission is done, I'm setting her free. Even if I have to tear my heart out to do it.

    Contains mature themes.
