Summary

Milly's class are going on a totally unexpected last-minute EPIC overnight trip to the Gaeltacht in the West of Ireland. Milly CAN'T WAIT to be away with her friends and, sure, HOW MUCH TROUBLE can she possibly get into in the middle of nowhere in County Kerry?
Quite a lot, it turns out! But of course, Milly is totally NOT to blame for the horrible hike, the spew stew, the dust-covered dorm room or even the SOGGY SHEET …

Eight-year-old Mason writes and illustrates his own superhero series, "Invincible Igor." Tonight his goal is to finish book six in the series. But with all the interruptions, how can he? His six-year-old sister, animal-loving Alicia, needs Mason's drawing and spelling skills to make a sign that will keep her "pooping machine" guinea pig safe. And now there is a racket coming from the bathroom, thanks to his youngest siblings – four-year-old twins, Jackson and Jillian. It's a big responsibility being the oldest kid in the family. Will Mason ever be able to finish his book? Or maybe something will happen that will inspire the ending. "Mason and Invincible Igor" is written for read-aloud and for early readers. An art activity, and interactive questions to promote memory recall and emotional intelligence are included. ABOUT THE THREE BOOK SERIES: I was in my classroom when a student asked, “I wonder what my sister is doing right now?” The student’s question made me think about a child’s emerging concept of time: that of being aware of life happening elsewhere, outside of the child’s own experience. Each book in the Sapphire Family Series is told from a different point of view: that of the twins, in "Jackson and Jillian," their older sister, Alicia in "Alicia and Annie," and big brother, Mason in "Mason and Invincible Igor." All three books take place during the same period of time, early evening. Although the books can stand alone, read together they offer a three-dimensional exploration of sibling interactions and family dynamics. Reading a story from different points of view is a first step in thinking beyond oneself. My intention is that the Sapphire Family Series will offer children compelling characters with whom they can identify and grow, and present positive, realistic family dynamics that will delight them.

High above the world, hidden among the drifting clouds, lay a magical floating island. This was no ordinary island—it shimmered under the golden sun, and its trees whispered secrets in the wind. Here, magic existed in secret, known only to those who lived on the island. It was a place of wonder, where animals could talk, and the sky itself seemed to listen.
Among the island's many wonders was a young boy named Hero. With kindness in his heart, determination in his spirit, and creativity in his mind, Hero was special in ways he didn't fully understand. He had the gift of talking to animals and flying, but despite his magical abilities, Hero struggled with something far greater than any spell—believing in himself.
Hero often doubted whether he was truly strong enough, smart enough, or special enough. What if his magic wasn't as powerful as others? What if he failed? His mind was full of "what ifs" that made his wings feel heavy and his heart uncertain.

Small, feisty Siberian husky Togo—the overlooked sled-dog hero of the 1925 serum run to Nome—sets the record straight in Dog Diaries #4!

When a diptheria epidemic breaks out in isolated Nome, Alaska, in January 1925, the only way to get life-saving serum to the town is by using dog-sled relay teams. Twenty teams participate, and the dog who inevitably gets credit for saving the town is Balto, lead dog on the final team which delivered the serum. But few people have ever heard of twelve-year-old Togo and his musher Leonard Seppala, who carried the serum for almost double the length of any other team, and twice violated warnings to avoid perilous Norton Sound and instead ran straight over the frozen ice! Togo's tale is perfect for middle-grade readers who love a spunky underdog!

When Lizzie Pickering's young son Harry died in 2000, she set out on a journey to understand how she could survive her grief and learn to live with it. In When Grief Equals Love, she details the lessons she's learned from her own experiences and those of others, who share their thoughts in this moving and tender book.

Lizzie opens her diaries, written in the early years after Harry's death, revealing her observations on the grief of his siblings and family, what helped and what hurt. Revisiting those diaries, she reflects on time passing, and what has changed for her and her family since.

Lizzie looks at the myth of closure, survivor's energy and cumulative grief - when life experiences pile up and become too much to bear. She includes interviews with bereaved friends, who share their own insights, and she provides a toolkit based on what has helped her and what she recommends to those she now helps with grief guidance.

In most lives, unfortunately, grief and loss are inevitable. But living with grief can still be living. This book is for those going through grief and anyone who might need to support them. There are no easy answers, but nobody should have to cope alone.
