Summary

According to the Anxiety & Depression Association of America (ADAA), one of the most common mental disorders in the United States is anxiety disorder. This illness affects over 40 million American adults (18 years and older) each year, which is a big 18.1% of the US population.

Although anxiety disorders can be treated, over a third, or 36.9%, of the population only gets the allotted treatment, while the remaining 63.1% remain suffering.

Anxiety disorders are very common and have become associated with depression. These two illnesses may occur together, or one disorder leads to the other one and vice versa. Statistics say that almost half of the patients diagnosed with depression were also diagnosed with anxiety disorder.

Are you one of these people suffering from anxiety? What if we tell you that your anxiety may be caused by a nerve that is related to your stomach and your brain? Have you heard of the vagus nerve?

The vagus nerve is the “hunger nerve” that links your brain and gut. This nerve is responsible for sending signals from the gut to the brain back and forth.  Studies have revealed that if this nerve is not functioning well by being less sensitive or “asleep,” it may lead to other health problems such as obesity, gastrointestinal diseases, seizures, fainting, bradycardia, chronic inflammation, mood disorders, and anxiety.

How the vagus nerve becomes dysfunctional and what causes it to not work as it should, will be explained in the succeeding parts of the guide.

Since the vagus nerve is a nerve that does its work in the gut, we have thought that to bring it back to its former glory, then a healthy diet may be one of the ways to stimulate it (hint: obesity-inducing food items weaken the nerve).

In this guide, you will discover...

What the vagus nerve is

What its function in the body is

Vagus nerve and your health

How it becomes weak

How to stimulate it

What exercises can stimulate the nerve

What food items can activate it back

The concept of the intact mind, first described in a 2006 memoir, refers to the idea that inside every autistic child is an intelligent, typical child waiting to be liberated by the right diet, the right treatment intervention, the right combination of supports and accommodations. The sentiment itself is not new. Though the idea gives hope to parents devastated by a child's diagnosis, Amy Lutz argues that it has also contributed to widespread dismantling of services badly needed by severely disabled children and their families.

In Chasing the Intact Mind, Lutz traces the history of the intact mind concept, explaining how it influences current policy and practice affecting those with autism. Lutz provides a historical analysis of the intact mind narrative and describes how the concept—originally unique to autism—has come to inform current debates at the heart of intellectual and developmental disability practice and policy in the United States. Lutz argues that focusing on the intact mind and marginalizing those with severe disability reproduces historic patterns of discrimination that yoked human worth to intelligence, and that it is only by making space for the impaired mind that we will be able to resolve these ongoing clashes—as well as even larger questions of personhood, dependency, and care.

    This book contains three titles:
    - Celestial Conundrums: Dark matter, a mysterious and invisible substance, remains one of the most profound puzzles in modern astrophysics. Despite being undetectable by conventional means, its presence is inferred through its gravitational effects on visible matter, radiation, and the large-scale structure of the universe. Comprising roughly 27% of the universe’s total mass-energy content, dark matter far outweighs the ordinary matter that makes up stars, planets, and galaxies. However, scientists have yet to identify its true nature.
    - Cosmic Construction: The concept of interstellar megaprojects has long captured the imagination of visionaries and scientists alike. Initially, these ideas resided in the realm of science fiction, where vast space-faring civilizations would design and build monumental structures to harness the power of stars or travel across galaxies.
    - The Top 5 Most Persuasive Alien Abduction Accounts: For centuries, humanity has looked to the stars with wonder and curiosity, speculating about the existence of life beyond our planet. While astronomers and scientists seek concrete evidence of extraterrestrial life, a different kind of proof has captured the public's imagination: alien abduction accounts. These extraordinary stories, often dismissed as fantasy or delusion, have sparked debates that straddle the line between science, psychology, and the unexplained.

Over 500,000 years ago, a single gene mutated. It spread over time, becoming critical in the journey transforming our earliest ancestors into fully modern humans, capable of navigating the entire planet and beyond. Then just a few thousand years ago, humans gradually outsourced knowledge to writing, and we displaced art and music from the heart of learning.

This is the extraordinary story of the discovery of a supergene that makes us uniquely human. Dr Lynne Kelly recounts how a widespread congenital disorder was the critical clue she and her collaborators needed to identify the gene that has long eluded researchers into human cognition.

The knowledge gene supercharged our ability to learn and share knowledge with others, explaining the prodigious memories of Indigenous people the world over. The discovery of the knowledge gene unlocks many other puzzles too. It explains for the first time why humans are the only species to make art, offers new insights into the earliest music and storytelling, and into the cognitive strengths of neurodivergent people.

The Knowledge Gene shows that we can all access the full power of our memories, without giving up any of the advantages of writing and technology. The implications for learning and creativity at any age are profound.
