"The Call of the Wild, a timeless adventure novel by Jack London, was first published in 1903. This gripping tale takes readers on a journey through the rugged wilderness of the Yukon Territory during the Klondike Gold Rush. The story revolves around Buck, a remarkable dog—a crossbreed between a St. Bernard and a Scotch shepherd. Buck's carefree life in Santa Clara County, California is abruptly disrupted when he is stolen and transported northward. His journey leads him to the bustling town of Skagway, Alaska, and eventually to Dawson City, Yukon. Here, during the late 1890s gold rush, strong sled dogs are in high demand. As Buck adapts to his new life as part of a dog team delivery service, he discovers his primal instincts and learns to survive in the harsh Arctic environment. His bond with his last owner, John Thornton, takes him even further north, somewhere between Yukon and Alaska. Buck responds to "the call of the wild," shedding the comforts of civilization and embracing his true nature as a master of the wilderness 1. This captivating novel has also been adapted into films, including the 2020 movie of the same name. In the film, Buck's adventures come to life on the big screen, with an impressive cast including Harrison Ford, Omar Sy, and Cara Gee."

In this classic dystopian novel, an  island nation eliminates its residents at sixty-seven years old, and in 1980, one man has reached his limit. Welcome to Britannula. This country gained its independence from Great Britain in the mid-twentieth century. A group of similar-minded men then gathered to establish the nation and its laws. Among them was Gabriel Crasweller. An immigrant from New Zealand, Crasweller is currently Britannula’s oldest resident. The trouble is, decades ago, he voted to create the “Fixed Period.” It is a law in his country for citizens to be euthanized when they reach sixty-eight years of age, and Crasweller is the first to run out of time . . . First published in installments in Blackwood’s Magazine in 1881, The Fixed Period was released as a book in 1882. It is told from the perspective of Britannula’s president, Crasweller’s friend, as he tries to honor the laws of the land while handling the aged resident.

A richly atmospheric portrait of women’s agency and the timelessness of love, Time Squared explores the enduring roles of rights, responsibility, and devotion throughout history

The game will change when you remember who you are

Robin and Eleanor meet in 1811 at the British estate of Eleanor’s rich aunt Clara. Robin is about to leave to fight in the Napoleonic Wars, and her aunt rules out a marriage between them. Everyone Eleanor knows, including Robin, believe they’ve always lived in these times.

But Eleanor has strange glimpses of other eras, dreams that aren’t dreams but memories of other lives. And their time jumps start as their romance deepens. Robin fights in the Boer War, the First and Second World Wars, in Vietnam and Iraq. Meanwhile, Eleanor struggles to figure out what’s going on, finally understanding that she and Robin are being manipulated through time.

Who is doing this, and why? Arriving in modern times, Eleanor sets off to confront the ones she discovers are behind this — chessmasters playing her like a pawn. Eleanor’s goal? To free herself to live out her life on her own terms.

Time Squared examines the roles women are forced to play in different centuries, the power they’re allowed, the stresses they face — and what this does to their relationships.

Starting with the epic The Stainless Steel Rat, this collection of stories by the incomparble Harry Harrison showcases his ability to entertain us from the first word to the last in each story. His wit, fast pace and perfect characterization of less than honorable heroes mixes humor and pathos in the best ratios.
Arm of the Law, The K-Factor, The Misplaced Battleship, The Repairman and the Velvet Glove round out this collection of my favorite Harry Harrison stories. You will enjoy them, I promise!
