Summary

James Madison introduced 12 amendments to the First Congress in 1789. Ten of these would go on to become what we now consider to be the Bill of Rights. One was never passed, while another dealing with Congressional salaries was not ratified until 1992, when it became the 27th Amendment. Based on the Virginia Declaration of Rights, the English Bill of Rights, the writings of the Enlightenment, and the rights defined in the Magna Carta, the Bill of Rights contains rights that many today consider to be fundamental to America. The Constitution of the United States of America is the supreme law of the United States. Empowered with the sovereign authority of the people by the framers and the consent of the legislatures of the states, it is the source of all government powers, and also provides important limitations on the government that protect the fundamental rights of United States citizens. The Constitution acted like a colossal merger, uniting a group of states with different interests, laws, and cultures. Under America's first national government, the Articles of Confederation, the states acted together only for specific purposes. The Constitution united its citizens as members of a whole, vesting the power of the union in the people. Without it, the American Experiment might have ended as quickly as it had begun. Through centuries of oppression, we were tenants in our own land.
Today, despite our independence and new-found affluence, we are in the midst of a crisis.
The question of who owns Ireland is once again taking on a sense of urgency. Is the land of Ireland still for the people of Ireland?
In a deep and far-reaching investigation, journalist, broadcaster and No. 1 bestselling author Matt Cooper examines the power wielded by those who control the land where we live, work and play. Who are they, how did they acquire so much and what does it mean for ordinary citizens when the ownership of key resources like shopping centres, wind farms, forestry and data centres comes from outside?
This is a story about how power and money influence and control the present and the future of Ireland … sometimes for good and sometimes for bad. Filled with riveting detail, this compelling story of who really owns Ireland is an essential account of the issues that affect every single one of us living on this island.

In today’s world we live in a culture of truth suppression. This is true in representative democracies like the United States as well as full totalitarian dictatorships like Communist China. This book covers many areas of major lies like Global Warming, perverted doctrines taught in schools, Politics, News Suppression, Communist China, limitations in Spirituality, deficit spending, and problems with globalism. There are many different types of truth suppression and as much as we would like to think that we live in an advanced culture and world, this effort by different entities to suppress truth affects our lives negatively in many ways. The most direct effect is that we live in fear of the future of our world which is a big lie. This suppression also keeps us from fully realizing our spiritual natures and that we do have the ability to accomplish amazing things when we live with full honesty in our lives.I believe that individuals are closest to a state of happiness when they live their lives in truth. (See my book “A New Paradigm of Truth and Happiness” for more information.)There are actions we can take to correct this situation but they are mass actions which need many persons involved to have a real effect. A list of these actions are given later in this book.

In today’s deeply divisive political environment, the constant media storm pits Democrats against Republicans and liberals against conservatives, and drives narratives that describe Donald Trump as the worst president in American history who should be incarcerated forever for high crimes against society. But another segment of America believes Trump is the savior of the nation and worthy of sainthood.
What is the truth? Is there an acceptable reality somewhere within these two extremes? Can we know what actually guides Trump’s larger than life political persona? What really makes him tick? Is he worthy of the support of an American people desperately seeking the best for a nation in turmoil?
The Magic and Mayhem of Donald Trump lays out with uncommon clarity the reality of the Trump enigma. Known for his supreme self-confidence, inexhaustible ambition, braggadocio, arrogance, vanity, and knack for thriving amid conflict, Trump, who fights opponents with a fierce intensity that is often cruel and harsh, also possesses a firm but realistic sense of right and wrong influenced by a simple faith and bears a serious connection to everyday common people that springs from his past.
You will confidently discover, amidst the magic and the mayhem, the real man behind the myth. And in the process, you just might acquire a renewed or even novel appreciation for this American original.

Finding Francis, finding family, freeing history

Francis is found. Beyond Francis, a family is found—in archival material that barely deigned to notice their existence. This is the story of Francis Sistrunk and her children, from enslavement into forced migration across South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi. It spans decades before the Civil War and continues into post-emancipation America. A family story full of twists and turns, Finding Francis reclaims and honors those women who played an essential role in the historical survival and triumph of Black people during and after American slavery.

Elizabeth West has created a remarkable "biohistoriography" of everyday Black resistance, grounded in a determination to maintain enduring connections of family, kinship, and community despite the inhumanity and rapacity of slavery. There is inevitable heartbreak in these histories, but there is also an empowering strength and inspiration—the truth of these lives will indeed set us all free.
