An entertaining read that delves into the concept of second chances. The story follows Maria as she creates a social media account and reconnects with two women she hasn’t seen in over thirty years. As a result, painful memories resurface, and Maria is forced to confront a failed love-affair she had previously run away from. However, this revived past deception may hold answers to questions she had never dared to ask, and could offer a future she had denied herself.

Ward takes great care to describe her characters in detail, allowing readers to experience their hesitations, nervousness, and fears. By exploring her characters’ emotions, the author not only makes them relatable and endearing, but also encourages readers to reflect on their own past and consider those individuals who were once important in their lives. “The Profile Picture” is a thoughtful and engaging story about those “what if” moments in life.
