Sinopsis

Sometimes you have to lose everything to find yourself…
The lake in the middle of her father's kitchen is only the first in a series of disasters in Zeina's life. Nassar's recent health crisis has seen his well-established community restaurant, Casablanca, losing ground and customers to trendier competition.
Casablanca's deterioration is not the only chaos in Zeina's world but, unlike her husband who won't speak to her, her best friend who is sliding towards self-destruction, and her cousin who is stealing Zeina's life story for content, the restaurant is something she can fix. And Zeina, lonely and adrift, needs something she can fix.
Taking leave from her prestigious chef position, Zeina throws herself into caring for her ailing father, immersing herself in the familiar foods and flavours of her childhood, trying to save both him and his restaurant. But working in the kitchen – and her childhood home – brings memories, secrets, and unexpected ambitions simmering to the surface. When it comes time to make hard decisions, Zeina will have to accept that growing up is an ongoing process – one that never gets any easier.

You know what's worse than my ex-husband? The apocalypse. That's why I'm putting the past behind me as I drag my best friends to safety. My ranch is the perfect place for us to lay low while the world falls apart—as long as I can survive the small-town drama. But I wasn't expecting to come face-to-face with a smoking-hot trespasser who says he owns my property now. Kieran has another thing coming if he thinks he's staying on my land. I don't care if he's working for the government or trying to solve some sort of apocalyptic prophecy that might involve me and my friends.I'm definitely not swooning over his brooding scowl or beautiful eyes that seem to stare into the depths of my soul while he warns me to stay away.
He doesn't scare me.Even if he does have wings. And a tail. And . . . Um . . . Did he just turn into a dragon?

Don't miss this brilliantly gripping cozy mystery from MILLION-COPY BESTSELLER Fiona Walker 🔍 A must-read for fans of Richard Osman, Janet Evanovich and the Reverend Richard Coles!
Former stand-up comic Juno Mulligan has been suffering a serious sense-of-humour failure. Not only has she lost the love of her life, but she’s having to relocate to the (admittedly idyllic) village of Inkbury to watch out for her elderly mother, who she’s genuinely worried might be marrying a wife-killer.
She hopes that her old friend, disgraced-journalist-turned-novelist Phoebe Fredericks can help her crack the case of whether her mother’s perma-tanned, iceberg-smiled, three-times-a-widower fiancé is hiding a murderous past.
But before they have a chance, the local art dealer washes up distinctly dead in the village’s famous river. His lover is in the frame, but Juno and Phoebe suspect that there is a deeper secret… One that relates to Phoebe’s own past and Juno’s present.
Will the unofficial Village Detective Agency solve the mystery before the killer strikes again? In sleepy Inkbury, as they soon discover, living one’s best midlife can be murder.

The Plattner Story by H. G. Wells - ...Two of the boys, gesticulating, walked one after the other clean through him! Neither manifested the slightest consciousness of his presence.
We believe that this story, by our well-known author, which was written some years ago, constitutes the forerunner of all later stories in which the Fourth Dimension played a great role. Wells somehow has been captivated by the idea that there is such a thing as a fourth or higher plane. He does not seem to have changed his mind about this, for while the present story of his also brings in, again, a higher plane, supposedly existing alongside of our own. The Plattner Story is an extraordinarily well-written scientifiction tale, and is plausible as well as easily understandable, and will particularly appeal to those whose ideas of the Fourth Dimension are rather hazy.
