Beschreibung

A woman is pulled from the boot of a car on a Spanish clifftop. She's lost teeth and is a bloody mess. Masked gunmen are hell-bent on killing her. Miraculously surviving a shoot-out and a breakneck car chase, resulting in many deaths, the woman is revealed to be British Secret Intelligence Officer Daisy Scarlett.

Daisy knows her guns as she does her fine wines. In fact, she loves a drink, which is mainly due to her strained relationship with her alcoholic father, her boss - the head of MI6. Her mother is a whistle-blowing conspiracy theorist, so it's of no wonder Daisy is torn between finding out the truth on behalf of the people or pleasing her father and the State.

Bilker Coot Pharmaceuticals is a global healthcare company with their own private military defense team, led by a psychotic ex member of the SAS. In the midst of a seventy billion pound take-over, they need to shake a recent academic review of a failed flu vaccine that cost the UK government a billion pounds.

Teaming with a Chinese Intelligence Agent, Daisy is assigned to track down Bilker Coot's lead virologist who has gone on the run with a disturbing biological weapon, however all is not as it appears to be for female intelligence officer, Daisy Scarlett.

From the writer of 'Old Habits' and 'My name is not Jacob Ramsay', 'Daisy Scarlett' is an international espionage action thriller with universal appeal.

"The Adventure of the Beryl Coronet", one of the 56 short Sherlock Holmes stories written by British author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is the eleventh of the twelve stories collected in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. The story was first published in Strand Magazine in May 1892.
A banker asks Holmes to investigate after a "Beryl Coronet" entrusted to him is damaged at his home. Awakened by noise, he had found his son, Arthur, holding the damaged coronet. Arthur refuses to speak, neither admitting guilt nor explaining himself.
Footprints in the snow outside the house tell Holmes that the banker's niece had conspired with a blackguard to steal the coronet; Arthur had discovered the crime in progress and the coronet had been damaged during his struggle to prevent it. He had refused to tell his father the truth of the crime because of his love for his cousin.

    To find a murderer, you need a motive . . .

    THE DETECTIVE
DS George Cross has always wondered why his mother left him when he was a child. Now she is back in his life, he suddenly has answers. But this unexpected reunion is not anything he's used to dealing with. When a disturbing case lands on his desk, he is almost thankful for the return to normality.

    THE QUESTION
The body of a monk is found savagely beaten to death in a woodland near Bristol. Nothing is known about Brother Dominic's past, which makes investigating difficult. How can Cross unpick a crime when they don't know anything about the victim? And why would someone want to harm a monk?

    THE PAST
Discovering who Brother Dominic once was only makes the picture more puzzling. He was a much-loved and respected friend, brother, son – he had no enemies. Or, at least, none that are obvious. But looking into his past reveals that he was a very wealthy man, that he sacrificed it all for his faith. For a man who has nothing, it seems strange that greed could be the motive for his murder. But greed is a sin after all . . .
