A skillfully crafted time-slip novel that weaves together two very different lives: Gareth, a secluded translator immersed in Japanese archery in 90s Bristol, and Mie, the sole survivor of a devastating 1945 Tokyo bombing.

Gareth and Mie are connected through Mie’s nephew Hiroshi, who shows Gareth that archery, much like life itself, is defined by the profound impact of small moments. The novel beautifully explores this underlying theme of cherishing the seemingly inconsequential moments that shape our lives. It emphasizes the ripple effect of each action and highlights the profound influence individuals have on those around them. Another equally important message is that every single life, no matter how insignificant we think we might be, is worth saving.

Initially, Gareth’s and Mie’s stories unfold separately, but they eventually converge in a groundbreaking turn of events. It is at this point that the narrative takes on a touch of magic, leaving a lasting impression on readers’ minds.
