  Hi ha unanimitat a considerar el Llibre de contemplació en Déu com un dels textos més importants no només de l'extensa producció del seu autor, sinó de tota la literatura catalana. Per a molts seria, fins i tot, l'obra més destacada de les lletres catalanes. Aquesta valoració es justifica, juntament amb els seus indubtables mèrits literaris, pel seu caràcter de text fundacional: en certa manera Llull obrí el món a la cultura catalana en emprar al segle XIII la seva llengua materna com a vehicle de comunicació literària, filosòfica i científica, i és precisament en el Llibre de contemplació on per primer cop el català s'erigeix com a llengua d'alta cultura. Aquest llibre immens, del qual en presentem una antologia, resumeix allò més essencial de la vasta obra posterior de Llull i es pot afirmar que amb el Llibre de contemplació neixen les lletres catalanes, i ho fan amb una obra de referència la importància de la qual s'estén molt més enllà de les nostres fronteres lingüístiques i culturals.

White sap encomanar al lector la paranoia de la protagonista i ofereix un viatge inoblidable que manté atrapat fins a la darrera pàgina.
