Synopsis

ਇਕ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਬਾਝੋਂ” ਸਰਦਾਰ ਨਰਿੰਦਰਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵਧ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਭਾਸ਼ਾਲੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਹੈ । ਇਹ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਗਲਪ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਦੇ ਭਵਿਖ ਦੀ ਮੰਜ਼ਲ ਹੈ । ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਤਾਲਸਤਾਏ ਦੇ “ਜੰਗ ਤੇ ਅਮਨ” ਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਦੋ ਚਾਰ ਸਨਾਤਨੀ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਛਡ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਕ੍ਰਿਤ “ਇਕ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਬਾਝੋਂ” ਦੇ ਹੰਮਪੱਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ । ੧੭੧੦ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ੧੮੪੯ ਤਕ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਵਿਚ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਰ-ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੇ ਪਿਛੋਕੜ ਸਾਹਵੇਂ ਨਿਤਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ । ਇਹ ਸਮਾਂ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਥੇ ਅਤਿ ਤੂਫਾਨੀ ਤੇ ਝਖੜਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਉੱਥੇ ਰੌਚਕ ਤੇ ਦਰਦ-ਰਿੰਝਾਣਾ ਵੀ ਹੈ । ਇਸ ਡੂਢ ਸਦੀ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਬੁਨਿਆਦ ਰਖੀ ਗਈ, ਇਹ ਵਿਗਸਿਆ ਵੀ, ਇਹਦੀ ਸਲਤਨੱਤ ਵੀ ਉਸਰੀ, ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਅੰਗ੍ਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਸਾਮਰਾਜ ਨੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਐਂਗਲੋਂ-ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੁਧਾਂ ਸੰਗ ਇਹਦਾ ਖਾਤਮਾ ਵੀ ਕਰ ਦਿਤਾ । ਲੂੰ ਕੰਡੇ ਖੜੇ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਇਹ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਇਸ ਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਦਾ ਖੇਤਰ ਹੈ । ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਵਲਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਅਜੇ ਤਕ ਐਡਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਕੈਨਵਸ ਚਿਤ੍ਰਨ ਦਾ ਜੇਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ । ਇਹ ਕ੍ਰਿਤ ਇਕ ਕਲਾਧਾਰੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੀ ਅਭਿਰਿਠ ਸਿਰਜਨਾ ਹੈ ।
