  تحاول هذه المخطوطة تطيير ألف شذرة مترجمة ومستلة من مجموع أعمال الشاعر فيرناندو بيسوا الشعرية والنثرية الصادرة بالإنجليزية، لا بهدف الوصول إلى روحه بل بهدف السقوط الحر في ثقبه الأسود العظيم. ذلك أن (مايتبقى منا في نهاية الأمر هو النتف الصغيرة والقصاصات، وهي لو أدركنا، كل شيء) بحسب بيسوا ذاته. وإذا كان بيسوا قد كتب مرة فيما يشبه التعويذة: (فلتحفظ لي يارب موهبة ألا أكون مهماً، وراحة أن أكون ضئيلاً)، فإن الكثير من النقاد يجمعون على أن بيسوا و(كونفدرالية الأرواح والمؤلفين) التي خلقها وتركها بعد موته في حقيبته السحرية الشهيرة، قد جعلت من فيرناندو بيسوا (المجهول حياً) أحد أعظم الشعراء والناثرين في القرن العشرين.

  هذا الديوان هو مجموع أشعار "أمير البيان"؛ «شكيب أرسلان"، التي كتبها على مدار خمسين عاماً، فقصائده واكبتْ مختلف أطوار حياته؛ شاباً وكهلاً وشيخاً، ولها ارتباطات بوقائع تاريخية شهيرة، وكذلك بمراسلات ومساجلات شعرية جرت بينه وبين بعض شعراء عصره أمثال "عبد الله فكري"، كما يتضمن شعره ومضات من مبادئه السياسية، ولم يخل من مرئيات لعدد من الأعلام ﮐ "محمود سامي البارودي" و"كامل الأسعد" و"أحمد شوقي" وآخرين. وقد قام الشاعر "خليل مطران" بتصدير الديوان احتفاء بالتجربة الشعرية لصديقه؛ وذلك لما كان يكنه له من ود وإعجاب كبيرين؛ حيث عده شاعراً مجيداً رغم إقلاله، ووصف شعره بأنه حضري المعنى، بدوي اللفظ، فياض الفكر. وجدير بالذكر أن "أرسلان" ألحق بديوانه هذا قصائد منتقاة من ديوانه الأول "الباكورة"، الذي نشره وهو في السابعة عشرة من عمره.
