A debut sexy romantic comedy about a woman getting her groove back and getting a second chance at love. Vanessa Jared, a 40-something divorcee, decided that the best way to pull herself out of their post-divorce slump was to form The Savvy, Sexy, Singles Club and start the "Do Me" portion of her and her friends' lives. But on the two year anniversary, a sexy sheriff shows up on Vanessa's doorstep wanting her to help him keep his little sister from marrying her no-good ex. Vanessa is not down for this at all. She wants nothing to do with her ex...until she spots a photo of her ex's new fiancee wearing her grandmother's ring--which he clearly stole from her. So now it is on. "The Pilgrim's Progress from This World to That Which Is to Come," written by John Bunyan in the late 17th century, is an allegorical novel that follows the journey of a character named Christian, who represents all of humanity. Christian embarks on a spiritual quest from the "City of Destruction" to the "Celestial City," seeking salvation and enlightenment through various trials and challenges. At the beginning of the story, Christian is depicted as bearing a heavy burden and grappling with existential despair. After reading a troubling book that reveals his doomed state, he becomes increasingly distressed, ultimately crying out for salvation. His path soon intersects with the character Evangelist, who directs him to the wicket gate as a way to escape his dire fate. Throughout his journey, Christian faces the temptation to succumb to worldly advice and the folly of straying from his divine purpose. This underscores themes of faith, redemption, and the challenges encountered on the path to spiritual truth.Show book
Death is hard. It’s as inevitable as manipulation and misogyny; as inevitable as love, conflict, insanity, sleep-deprivation, and broken hearts. It’s coming. It’s here. On the 28th April 2018, a young poet called Dan “DC” Collins was found dead in the woodlands by his home in Birmingham. He’d taken his own life. This was done, at least in part, because I had made the incredibly selfish decision to stop being his girlfriend. This decision would go on to affect the rest of my adult life. I decided to escape from this reality by moving away to Basque Country, hoping to Eat, Pray, Love my way out of the survivor’s guilt and PTSD. This did not work. Instead, I had a nervous breakdown. Away from all the people who loved me, un-medicated, and isolated in a country where I didn’t speak the language, I managed to incredibly successfully push myself over the edge. It was a bad decision. I did however, manage to keep a diary of this inevitable mental decline. That diary is And Marvel. I wanted to show this reality from the perspective of a flawed, grieving person. I wanted, most importantly, to keep DC alive in the only way I could. This book contains candid discussions of suicide and the ways the world holds women responsible for the actions of their partners.Show book
