  Wherever you’re from, from whatever background or class, no one knows  what goes on behind closed doors. The trauma and abuse I was brought up
   with from a young child has made me the person that I am today. It is like a branding iron put onto a developing mind. The scars you cannot see but dictate my every moment, others of you out there will know exactly what I mean. I hold no shame for what was done to me as a child.
   It has certainly given me more tolerance for other’s situations because of it. It has certainly made me more understanding. For all my adult life, I have suffered from mental health issues as a result. This itself has made me more empathetic with others. All these poems come from deep within. Some written from very dark places, others from hope and forgiveness, I’ve written many poems when I’ve had no one to talk to. Writing has always been there for me - it has always been my friend. 
  Forgive those that hurt you for it will only harm you. Love and good luck

  REVENGE: After the Levoyah is a daring satire about antisemitism, the dangers of collective hysteria, and how far a nonagenarian can throw a jar of chraine from a moving vehicle. Revenge is a dish best served pickled.
  Written by Nick Cassenbaum and directed by Emma Jude Harris, it was first performed at Summerhall during the 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where it won a Fringe First Award and a Summerhall Lustrum Award, and transferred to The Yard Theatre, London, in 2025.

  In the volumes of this series, we take a look at poetry through the prism of individual regions of England, or sometimes more quaintly known as ‘Albion’, or ‘Blighty’, through the centuries of its gloried history. 
   
  England, despite its perception of reserve and under-statement has, in reality, strode the global stage at various time in many things, both good and bad, from Empire to long distance running. Here our focus in on its literature.  Famed for its fiction and dramas, it is equally admired for its plethora of gifted poets and the dazzling verse which has added so much to its artistic legacy.   In this volume our poems come from the East Midlands in the centre of England. Once a vast manufacturing hub whose industries invented, created and exported the future to the entire world.
