Thanks to Laura Latuule, Rentt achieves a new form of evolution and is reborn as a vampire. He returns to Maalt’s Second Orphanage to check on Sister Lillian’s health and to ask if Lorraine and he could take Alize on as an apprentice. However, little does he know that, at the same time, two new people are approaching Maalt. One is a saint of the Church of Lobelia, and the other is...a vampire hunter?! The semi-invalid Mrs. Moulton and her long-suffering husband are touring Europe with their two adult daughters, Jane and Lydia. They have firm ideas of what is proper and decorous. Mr. Moulton's young relative, Catalina, does not fit this ideal. Her dress is too short. She mixes with the natives. She wants to visit Spain... not, in itself, a problem; except she proposes to travel in a third class compartment on the train! Funds will not stretch to any other class, and if the Moultons refuse to accompany her, she proposes to walk! What will become of them all? Surely only doom, disaster and the loss of reputation lie ahead.

Follow Stick Man through a disastrous day in this hilarious adventure inspired by real signs.

Stick Man is that guy you see around town but don’t really know very well. Everywhere you go, there he is, crossing the street, waiting for the bus, issuing warnings about potential disasters at sea and on land, at the mall and at work. But when he’s not offering advice, what does a day in the life of Stick Man actually look like? This catastrophe-packed book uses images derived from real signs to follow a continuous narrative as Stick Man navigates the perils of a single, hilariously bad day. Everyone has had that day that just keeps getting worse, but Stick Man’s adventures show readers both what a bad day really looks like, and that in the end it’s never really quite as bad as it may seem. It’s the perfect pick-me-up for when life, or a forklift, knocks you down.
