Summary

"Mind Mending" explores the power of natural approaches to optimize brain function and mental well-being, challenging the dominance of pharmaceutical interventions in mental health discussions. This comprehensive guide focuses on three key areas: nutrition, physical activity, and mindfulness practices, offering readers a holistic framework for cognitive enhancement.

The book's central thesis argues that individuals can significantly improve their cognitive function through accessible, lifestyle-based interventions, debunking the myth that cognitive decline is an inevitable part of aging. Progressing from an introduction to neuroplasticity, the book delves into specific strategies for optimizing brain health. It covers dietary interventions, exercise protocols, sleep optimization techniques, and cognitive training exercises, all supported by a wide range of scientific research.

What sets "Mind Mending" apart is its emphasis on non-pharmaceutical methods accessible to anyone, regardless of medical background. This approach democratizes brain health, empowering readers to take control of their cognitive well-being through natural interventions.

The book's interdisciplinary nature, combining insights from neuroscience, nutrition science, and psychology, offers a comprehensive understanding of brain health. By presenting complex scientific concepts in clear, engaging prose, "Mind Mending" caters to both health-conscious individuals and healthcare professionals, providing practical, actionable advice for improving cognitive function and protecting against age-related decline.

A tale from 1001 Lesbian Nights
This collected edition contains all three parts of Desert Gardens at a special price.
By the sea of many islands, right at the edge of where the Desert of the Red Sands meets the Desert of the Black Sands, once lay the city of Gurganj, where a sly thief is sent on an errand by her Empress, to retrieve the one magical fruit missing from her garden. Bravely, the young woman sets out on her mission, but only the special juices of a witch, flowing freely from between her legs, will be able to help her withstand the perils of her quest.
As our young heroine travels deep into the desert, to retrieve the one fruit for her Queen that was still missing in the Palace Gardens, she encounters a fruit of a very different kind. There, at the harshed and unlikeliest of places, a princess lay sleeping, waiting to be awoken from her ancient curse by the tongue, lips and caresses of a daring, young traveller who longs for nothing more than to taste the flowing juices of her wet holes.
Returning from her travels, our heroine discovers that her true destination has been hidden in the Palace Gardens all along, right between the soft, milky white legs of her beloved Queen. Was the magical fruit hidden between her flowery petals all along? And is it ripe for the plucking? For Nilgoon, the time had come to find out.

    Farewell Address Oval Office

On January 11, 1989, Reagan gave the following farewell address to the nation from the Oval Office. The two things I’m proudest of are the economic recovery which created 19 million new jobs and that America is respected again in the world.
In 1980 pundits said our economic policies would cause inflation and collapse while our foreign policies would lead to war. Instead, tax cuts created “the longest peacetime expansion in our history” and “an explosion in research and new technology.” We knocked “down protectionist walls abroad instead of erecting them at home.”
We rebuilt our defenses and saw a new peacefulness around the globe. “Countries across the globe are turning to free markets and free speech and turning away from the ideologies of the past.”
I went into politics to protect something precious. “Our Constitution is a document in which ‘We the People’ tell the government what it is allowed to do. In the 1960s the government was taking our freedom with rules and regulations and confiscatory taxes.
People are “not free unless government is limited. There's a clear cause and effect here that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: As government expands, liberty contracts.”
Are “we doing a good enough job teaching our children what America is and what she represents in the long history of the world?” “America is freedom -- freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of enterprise. And freedom is special and rare.” Let’s start with more attention to American history.
I see America as a “shining city upon a hill” teeming with all kinds of people living in harmony, with ports humming with commerce, with doors open to anyone with the will to get here, a beacon and magnet for all who must have freedom.

In this oral history, Vietnam veterans recount their stories of patrol and combat on the coast and in the Mekong Delta. Developed specifically for the Vietnam War, Swift Boats were versatile craft “big enough to outrun anything they couldn’t outfight” but too small to handle even a moderate ocean chop, too loud to sneak up on anyone, and too flimsy to withstand the mildest of rocket attacks. This added challenges to an already tough mission: navigating coastal waters for ships and sampans smuggling contraband to the Viet Cong, disrupting enemy supply lines on the rivers and canals of the Mekong Delta, and inserting SEALs behind enemy lines.   The stories in this book cover the Swift Boats’ early years, which saw search-and-inspect operations in Vietnam’s coastal waters, and their later years, when the Swift Boats' mission shifted to the Mekong Delta’s labyrinth of three-thousand miles of rivers, streams, and canals. This is an intimate, exciting oral history of Swift Boats at war in Vietnam.

    Buda's Wagon - A Brief History...

The brilliant and disturbing 100-year history of modern terrorism and car bombs—the ubiquitous weapon of urban mass destruction

On a September day in 1920, an angry Italian anarchist named Mario Buda exploded a horse-drawn wagon filled with dynamite and iron scrap near New York's Wall Street, killing forty people. Since Buda's prototype the car bomb has evolved into a "poor man's air force," a generic weapon of mass destruction that now craters cities from Bombay to Oklahoma City.

In this provocative history, Mike Davis traces the its worldwide use and development, in the process exposing the role of state intelligence agencies—particularly those of the United States, Israel, India, and Pakistan—in globalizing urban terrorist techniques. Davis argues that it is the incessant impact of car bombs, rather than the more apocalyptic threats of nuclear or bio-terrorism, that is changing cities and urban lifestyles, as privileged centers of power increasingly surround themselves with "rings of steel" against a weapon that nevertheless seems impossible to defeat.
