Summary

"Conflict Resolve" offers a comprehensive exploration of human conflict dynamics and their resolution, presenting a unique three-pronged approach that integrates behavioral psychology, communication frameworks, and practical intervention strategies. The book delves into the fascinating question of why simple disagreements often spiral into complex disputes, providing readers with evidence-based insights drawn from social psychology, neuroscience, and organizational behavior studies. Through its carefully structured progression, the book first examines the psychological underpinnings of conflict, including cognitive biases and emotional triggers that influence our responses to disagreements. It then builds upon this foundation by introducing specific communication techniques for de-escalation and productive dialogue, supported by findings from clinical research on high-stress interactions. What sets this work apart is its integration of multiple disciplines, offering readers a holistic understanding of conflict resolution while maintaining accessibility through practical examples and real-world scenarios. The final section of the book translates theory into practice through detailed case studies and structured exercises, making it particularly valuable for professionals in leadership positions, counselors, and individuals seeking to enhance their conflict management skills. By incorporating tools such as communication templates and step-by-step resolution protocols, readers can immediately apply these evidence-based strategies to both personal and professional situations. If you think that most of the world consists of unicorns and rainbows, think again. Perhaps you think that living in the west is particularly harsh and that the problems we face in the United States or Europe are more brutal than in other parts of the world. Again, think again.
Welcome to a book about the ongoing genocide in Darfur, something not often discussed in the news but shocking enough to make you envision what hell on earth looks like. Chances are some of these rapes and murders are happening right now as you’re reading it. The conflict there isn’t over. Tragically, not enough is being done about it, and one might wonder if this is because of a lack of interest or the complications of the situation and therefore, incompetence.
The Darfur genocide describes the methodical killing of ethnic Darfuri people in Western Sudan throughout the existing dispute. It's considered the first genocide of the twenty-first century. The International Criminal Court (ICC) has prosecuted many individuals for criminal offenses against mankind, rape, mass relocations and deportations, and abuse because of the genocide being committed against the Fur, Masalit, and Zaghawa tribe. More than one million children there have been "killed, raped, hurt, displaced, shocked, or endured the loss of parents or caregivers and loved ones.”
The Darfur War, also called the Land Cruiser War, is a major armed dispute in Sudan's Darfur area that started in the month of February 2003 when the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) and the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) rebel groups launched a project against Sudan's federal government, implicating it of oppressing Darfur's non-Arab population.
This book will continue to shed light on this dark place on earth.

Two of the world's greatest crises, systemic racism and environmental destruction, share the same origin story. The two are rooted in economic forces that exploit and oppress both people and land.
Pastor David Swanson shows how we have failed our God-given duty as caretakers of creation and how that failure has resulted in the exploitation of people and the extraction of natural resources. Racial and ecological injustice share the same root cause—greed—that turns people and the natural world into commodities that are only valued for their utility. Yet Christians have the capacity to live in a way that nurtures racial and environmental justice simultaneously, honoring people and places in dynamic relationship with our Creator God. Swanson shows how we can become communities of caretakers, the way to restore our relationship with creation and each other, and the holistic justice that can result.

Although he took command of the Army of the Potomac only three days before the first shots were fired at Gettysburg, Union general George G. Meade guided his forces to victory in the Civil War's most pivotal battle. Commentators often dismiss Meade when discussing the great leaders of the Civil War. But in this long-anticipated book, Kent Masterson Brown draws on an expansive archive to reappraise Meade's leadership during the Battle of Gettysburg. Using Meade's published and unpublished papers along with a variety of other sources, Brown highlights how Meade's rapid advance of the army to Gettysburg on July 1, his tactical control and coordination of the army in the desperate fighting on July 2, and his determination to hold his positions on July 3 insured victory.

Brown argues that supply deficiencies, brought about by the army's unexpected need to advance to Gettysburg, were crippling. In spite of that, Meade pursued Lee's retreating army rapidly, and his decision not to blindly attack Lee's formidable defenses near Williamsport on July 13 was entirely correct in spite of subsequent harsh criticism. Combining compelling narrative with incisive analysis, this finely rendered work deepens our understanding of the Army of the Potomac as well as the machinations of the Gettysburg Campaign, restoring Meade to his rightful place in the Gettysburg narrative.

Few military organisations have had a greater importance than the Wagner Group: at a cursory glance no more than a disreputable private mercenary group dedicated to committing war crimes yet also, astonishingly, the challengers of the Kremlin on 23-24 June, 2023-unheard of in over two decades of Vladimir Putin's rule. From its inception in 2014 this nebulous organisation operating from Russia was intentionally cloaked in questions. How was it able to operate alongside Russia's top government officials? How could it deploy the logistical systems of the Russian army up to and including ordering air attacks with fighter planes of the Russian Federation, despite the deep antipathy of Russia's powerful defence minister Sergei Shoigu? Why did the Kremlin provide such an ample helping hand to its leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, for over a decade? In this compelling book, former Financial Times journalist Owen Wilson investigates the Wagner Group and their ties to Vladimir Putin. It skilfully sets out its history and the dramatic death of Yevgeny Prigozhin to cast a searching light on the person who ultimately stands behind the group.
