Summary

In "Coca and Cocaine," William Martindale delves into the complex relationship between the coca plant and its derivative, cocaine, exploring both their botanical characteristics and the socio-economic contexts that have shaped their use. Martindale employs a clear, analytical literary style, combining scientific inquiry with historical narrative, to trace the plant's journey from indigenous use in South America to its controversial status in modern society. He meticulously documents the chemical properties of coca, the implications of cocaine's pharmacology, and the evolving legal frameworks surrounding their use, thereby situating the discussion within a global context of drug policy debates and public health considerations. Martindale, a prominent pharmacologist and a pioneer in the field of herbal medicine, draws from his extensive background in botany and toxicology to inform his writing. His interest in the medicinal properties of plants, as well as his awareness of the socio-political implications of drug use, surely shaped his motivations in tackling such a multifaceted subject. Martindale's scholarly rigor combined with his compassionate understanding of the cultural significance of coca among indigenous peoples is evident throughout the text. This book is highly recommended for scholars, policymakers, and anyone interested in understanding the intricate dynamics between plants, health, and society. "Coca and Cocaine" invites readers to reconsider preconceived notions about drug regulation and offers a thoughtful perspective on a subject that remains ever relevant in contemporary discourse.

Several years ago I became interested in the ideas of real time travel and dimensional travel. I’ve been trained in science and modern physics as well as engineering so I knew that modern theories of our physical world did not include the possibilities that time or dimensional travel existed.
As I did my research on stories of people who had travelled through time or additional dimensions there were many very credible stories. These stories eventually led me to conclude that time or dimensional travel through portals or veils does exist and some persons have experienced it.
On a book I wrote about the Tuatha Da Dannon who were the forerunners of elves, the Druids, and more there were stories that they originated in a different dimension called the Otherworld. And there were some interesting stories of humans who had traveled to the Otherworld and back.
It also turns out that the more one studies these subjects the more historical stories there are of portal, dimensional, and time travel experiences people have had.
This book then is a detailed review and exploration of portals around the world. Some of which are very plausible and others just might exist. Also could these portals be used today?
There are also lots of stories of individuals travelling through time and dimensional portals.
There are lots of interesting questions on this subject and we are just starting to learn the answers.

Deborah is a British First World War tank that rose from the grave after taking part in one of the most momentous battles in history. In November 1917, she played a leading role in the first successful massed tank attack at Cambrai. Eighty years later, in a remarkable feat of archaeology, the tank's buried remains were rediscovered and excavated, and are now preserved as a memorial to the battle and to the men who fought in it. John Taylor's book tells the tale of the tank and her crew and tracks down their descendants to uncover a human story every bit as compelling as the military one.
