Known as the Egyptian Revival, this movement emerged as part of a broader romantic and neoclassical interest in ancient civilizations. Following Napoleon's campaign in Egypt and the publication of Description de l'Égypte, Europe became enamored with Egyptian motifs, leading to their incorporation into a wide range of architectural projects. 
  One of the most recognizable contributions of Egyptian Revival architecture is the use of obelisks and pyramid forms in public spaces and memorials. These iconic shapes, once central to Egyptian religious and ceremonial design, were reinterpreted in cemeteries, government buildings, and monuments across Europe and the United States. The Washington Monument in the U.S., for instance, is a clear example of how Egyptian form was adapted to convey power and permanence. 
  In interior design and decorative arts, Egyptian Revival made a mark through bold geometric patterns, lotus flower motifs, and symbolic elements like the sun disk and winged scarab. Furniture, wallpaper, jewelry, and textiles adopted these styles, evoking the mystery and majesty of the Nile. By the age of sixty-five, one out of five people born with a uterus will have it removed. So, why do we seldom talk about this surgery? Highly performed yet overlooked, examining the paradox of hysterectomy begins to unravel the various problems with how we medically treat uteruses and the people who have them. 
   
   
   
  Get It Out weaves centuries of medical history with rich qualitative data from 100 women, trans men, and nonbinary people who had, want, or are considering hysterectomy. In compelling detail, Andréa Becker reveals how America’s healthcare system routinely deprives people of the ability to control their own bodies along race and gender lines. When people ask for a hysterectomy, they are often met with pushback: Are you sick enough? Old enough? Have you had enough babies? Will you regret this? How will your future husband feel about this? Yet this pushback is not equally experienced. While some people are barred access, others are ushered toward a hysterectomy. These contradictory recommendations reveal the persistent biases entrenched within healthcare.

  When the Colosseum was built in the late 1st century A.D., the Romans, who were known for their architectural acumen, managed to amaze themselves.   For well over a thousand years, the Forum was the scene of intense construction, as well as social, political, and commercial activity, making the Forum a boon for the study of Roman history, even though some buildings in the Forum are of such importance that they cannot be disassembled in order to discover the older layers underneath and thus find more evidence about the origins of this area. Ultimately, the Forum transformed from being a backwater used for grazing livestock into the religious and political center of Roman life, and it has long been an inspiration for subsequent generations, influencing the Renaissance, Romanticism, and even Fascism.  
  	Although Roman roads may not have attained the glamorous status of other inventions, their influence is just as profound; roads provide essential communication and transport lines for any country – throughout the hundreds of years when Rome was ascendant in the ancient world, the roads they built held together first their republic and then their empire into a cohesive unit. Since the Appian Way was first built in 312 BC, it has inspired poets, slaves, and conquerors, and Mark Antony, Spartacus, Hannibal, and Horace are just a few of the notable historical personalities who travelled on the Appian Way.
