Sinopsis

William Drummond of Hawthornden was the first notable poet in Scotland to write in English, as well as the first to use the canzone, a medieval Italian metrical form in English verse. He was a cultured and detached man of means, who became close friends with the poet Michael Drayton and the playwright Ben Jonson. He also wrote one of the most celebrated prose essays of the seventeenth century, ‘A Cypresse Grove’, serving as a compelling meditation on death and mutability. The Delphi Poets Series offers readers the works of literature’s finest poets, with superior formatting. “I am large, I contain multitudes”
Walt Whitman published his first collection of poetry, Leaves of Grass, in 1855. Whitman spent most of his professional life writing and revising it multiple times until his death.
It was highly controversial during its time for its explicit sexual imagery, and Whitman was subject to derision by many contemporary critics. Over time, however, the collection has infiltrated popular culture and been recognised as one of the central works of American poetry.

this volume of the 10 volume series is subtitled "Tales of Horror and Death"
    - includes some of Poe's most famous works including "The Pit and the Pendulum", "The Cask of Amontillado", "The Fall of the House of Usher" and 10 others
Acclaimed American writer, Edgar Allan Poe (1809 to 1849) was known particularly for his mysteries and tales of the macabre. He was one of the country's earliest practitioners of the short story, and is considered the inventor of the detective fiction genre.
Poe's father abandoned the family when he was just 1 year old and his mother died the following year. He was taken in by John and Frances Allan and lived with them into young adulthood. Poe attended the University of Virginia but had to leave due to lack of money. He quarreled with John Allan over the lack of funds for his education. In 1827, Poe enlisted in the United States Army under an assumed name and also published his first collection. Poe failed as an officer cadet at West Point, decided to be a full-time writer, and thus the relationship with the Allans was severed.

Caught between a loving husband and a man from her past, one woman chooses an unconventional way to explore her personal "road not taken". Love is not Pie is a personal exploration navigating the world of consensual non-monogamy and polyamory. This collection of poems - erotic, yearning, sweet and angry - was written by Lazaruk to and about her two beloved men over the course of several years. Collected here for the first time, the original poems are woven together with new pieces that provide context for how the story unfolded. In this expressive work of poetry, Lazaruk explores attachment, fear, love, lust, grief and the push-pull between what she knows is right and how she justifies her actions. Love is Not Pie will resonate with readers who have flirted with relationships outside the norm of Western marital conventions, as well as those who are interested in peering behind the curtain of what most of us show the world about our private lives. Narrated here by the author, she and her producer Paul Tedeschini, collaborated to create the sensual aural world of Love is Not Pie, setting the various scenes through the skillful use of sound design to add a unique ambience and feel to these tiny little gems. We hope you enjoy the audio experience. Please note it is best realized with headphones, both for the sound quality as well as for keeping the NSFW nature of this work on the DL while listening. Have fun!

In this poetry collection 'Ways to Say Goodbye'. Anne Kellas takes the listener through dream sequences, abstract and imagistic poems and deeply personal poems of loss. The effect is a cumulative building of a quiet world of reflective resilience as the poet tries out possible ways to do what is almost impossible – to love and to say goodbye."These poems, their accounts of the ways art, chance talk, angels, birds, memories and music can come at us with terrible and tender truths, are gifts that teach us how ‘to read the mind of clouds’." (Kevin Brophy)

Most poets recollect or describe the present. In her third book of poems, Laura Quinney (whose “superbly spare meditations” Harold Bloom compared to the poetry of Paul Celan and Emily Dickinson) does something more uncanny: recalling what it once was like to anticipate the future, she remembers what she thought the past would look like from the present moment, and in so doing deepens the meaning of memory. This is her third book of poetry.
