Summary

"Barbara Came Alone!" 
It was an award dinner and I was without a date of any sort simply because I wasn't there as a guest. My first job of the night was to drive anyone home who needed driving because they were too drunk to drive themselves.    
Barbara Hale came alone, but not for the same reason.  
Her husband had an acting gig and was out of town. This left the unescorted Perry Mason star alone and free to do whatever she wanted.  
In this case, the lady who plays Della Street on television, chose to talk to and dance with the one nobody at the party.
