Summary

There is nothing Matthias Deverell, illegitimate son of a marquis, wants more than to remove the murmurs of treason that haunt his father's name. He is determined to do just that, even if it means completing the nearly impossible task of reassembling the globe his father used as a safe. With pieces spread all over London, it will take all of Matthias' considerable skill at intimidation to retrieve them.
Nicholas Rexford, young Viscount Leighton, wants only to be able to provide a comfortable life for himself and his three sisters. After being left in near-poverty thanks to their father's spending and gambling, Nick is desperate to find a business venture he can invest in to turn their fortunes around. Sadly, he has no head for business, preferring to spend his time engrossed in horrid novels.
When Matthias finds Nick in possession of a piece of the globe, he believes the handsome young man to be in on the scheme, and decides to keep a closer eye on him. But when Nick meets Matthias, he is enthralled by the "dark and dangerous bastard" who could have stepped out of one of his novels.
Despite his suspicions, Matthias is drawn to Nick, but will his suspicions destroy what is developing between them and cost Matthias a chance at happiness?

In the year leading up to the First World War, four people’s lives intertwine, only to be pulled apart. A landmark of gay and pacifist literature, Rose Allatini’s story foregrounding conscientious objectors and queer love amidst wartime turmoil was banned months after its publication.
At a countryside hotel, guests watch an amateur play. One of the actors, Antoinette de Courcy, is infatuated with Hester Cawthorn, a reserved and alluring woman. Dennis Blackwood, a gifted composer, is intrigued by Antoinette, sensing that they are alike. He meets Alan, and the two are instantly attracted to each other. Unlike Antoinette’s determined pursuit of Hester, Dennis wholly represses his sexuality. With the war looming, families are torn apart by personal politics: the men around Dennis embrace the patriotic cause and sign up to fight. Dennis, however, knows that embracing peace is the only possible way to live. He attempts to stamp out his powerful desire for Alan by focusing all attention on Antoinette. Yet this only leads to mutual unfulfilment, and understanding comes too late. Each day, as Dennis and others defend themselves in public court and private circles, the likelihood of forced enrolment or imprisonment grows.Despised and Rejected is part of the Persephone Audiobook Collection, a series of forgotten classics including neglected fiction and non-fiction by women writers. First published in 1918, this edition includes an afterword by Jonathan Cutbill and is narrated by Robyn Holdaway.

    A Vic and Matt Story
It's Vic's birthday, and apparently his lover Matt diLorenzo stumbled upon Vic's old supply of fetish gear when cleaning. Matt knows slipping into the leather and chains will be a sexy surprise for his lover when Vic gets home from work.
This short, erotic romp was originally written as one of the stories in The Positions of Love series, but was cut during rewrites. In this story, there are no references to Vic's super powers or the special bond Matt shares with his lover, so if you haven't read any of my other Vic and Matt stories, you can still enjoy this one.

Clancy Makem has played for the Brookeville Scorpions for the past seventeen years and is considered the century's best shortstop. After he tears his ACL for the fourth time, his career falls apart, and the team's surgeon gives him no choice but to retire. At thirty-eight, he finds himself without a job, so he decides to return to college to get the degree he'd put on hold. With that fourth surgery looming on the horizon, he's also in need of a temporary caregiver, something -- someone -- he's unwilling to accept. Clancy's teammates, who love their former shortstop, are willing to do whatever it takes to get rid of this person.
Charles Newton is a mathematical genius who had two master's degrees under his belt by the age of eighteen. Now twenty-one, he has a doctorate waiting in the wings, only he finds himself burned out and with no desire to defend his dissertation. Even in the face of being disowned by his overbearing mother, he's willing to walk away from academia. He's in need of a job, and fortunately he's offered one as a temporary caregiver to Clancy Makem -- a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for someone who's secretly a baseball aficionado.
Will Clancy welcome Charles -- supposedly clueless when it comes to baseball -- into his home, or will his teammates succeed in running the younger man off? Will Charles get the chance to work with the man he's admired for years? And who is this person they refer to as Chuck?

Kill the King of Mont de Leucoy, and his siblings will be released.
It should be an easy job for Malcolm Forrest. He’s ex-army, and hiking through snow doesn’t bother him because he’s a snow leopard shifter. He enters the country on four feet, his plan not formed beyond reaching the castle and getting eyes on the king.
Seeing a phoenix flying through the trees is unexpected, but his curiosity has been awakened, and so has the firebird’s. He follows, but what he finds is a man standing by a fire. A man he believes to be a shifter living wild and in need of some company, which, after days of living as a snow leopard, is rather too tempting.
Escaping his security to shift and fly is one of the reasons Gerrit likes to visit his remote mountain estate. The only shifters he ever finds are those in trouble, so when he sees the snow leopard, he’s happy to share his fire.
When the leopard shifts, Gerrit wants more than words. He’s tired of being alone and unable to connect because of who he is and the secret he needs to keep. He doesn’t expect to see the snow leopard again.
The next time they meet, Malcolm realizes who the phoenix is and how he missed his chance. With a magic-fueled blizzard closing in and no means of escape, he fails to act again. Instead, when Gerrit offers him shelter on his estate and in his bed, he accepts. Even though the lie eats him up. How can he kill a man who cares about his country, his family, his staff, and a stranger so much?
With lives on the line and too many secrets being kept, revealing the truth may be the only way out of the mess…but it will cost him more than his heart.
Explore the hidden kingdom of Mont de Leucoy in Book 2 of the Brothers of Fire series. This book has a lonely king, a desperate assassin, a snowstorm, spies, lies, and plenty of steam created by the phoenix and the snow leopard.
