THE ULTIMATE TRIVIA AND CURIOUS FACTS COLLECTION

    CREATED BY TRIVIA HUB

Stranger Things is an American science fiction horror drama created by the Duffer Brothers for Netflix. The series is set in the 1980s in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. The show follows the residents of Hawkins as they grapple with a hostile alternate dimension known as the Upside Down. The first season begins in 1983 when Will Byers is abducted by a creature from the Upside Down. The series has been praised for its characterization, atmosphere, acting, soundtrack, directing, writing, and homages to 1980s films. The show has also received numerous nominations and awards. The fifth and final season is expected to be released in 2025.

    CURIOUS FACT SAMPLES:

The original title for Stranger Things was Montauk, and it was set in Long Island, New York, before the creators changed it to the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. The shift allowed them to have more creative control over the town, like placing it under quarantine, which wouldn't be possible with a real location.

The Duffer Brothers drew inspiration from 1980s pop culture, including films by Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter, and Stephen King, as well as video games like Silent Hill and Dark Souls. They also took inspiration from the Cold War era and government conspiracy theories, such as Project MKUltra.

The series' title font and appearance were inspired by Stephen King's novel Firestarter, after Netflix requested the showrunners come up with a new title for the show. The title Stranger Things was chosen because it sounded similar to King's Needful Things.

"In the summer of my nervous breakdown, I went to live in Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada." So begins John Gregory Dunne's neglected classic of first-person writing, a mordant, deadpan, grotesque tale that blurs the line between autobiography and fiction, confession and reportage.

Panicked by his own mortality, despondent over his many failings as a writer and a man, Dunne leaves his wife and their three-year old child for the solitude of a crummy apartment off the Vegas Strip. There he plans to write an account of the city as he finds it; the book he ends up writing is "a fiction which recalls time both real and imagined." The remarkable central characters are Artha, a student at cosmetology college by day, a sex worker by night; Buster Mano, a private detective whose specialty is tracking down errant husbands; and Jackie Kasey, a lounge comic who opens for Elvis at $10,000 a night and wonders why he is still only a "semi-name." Pimps, bail bondsmen, parking-lot moguls, used-car tycoons, ex-jockeys, and women who look as if they had "spent a lifetime meeting guys in Vegas or Miami Beach or Louisville for the Derby": these are the people who wander through the lives of Artha, Buster, and Jackie—and, for a dark season, the life of the narrator.

    Contains mature themes.

Maria asks them their purpose and listens as they show and declare what they want us humans to know. From Thistles to Snakes, Poison Ivy to Mosquitoes, these nature beings convey messages that are relevant to every human, showing us how to live in balance and harmony on this Earth. Through journeys filled with surprises, humor, and foibles, follow Maria’s evolution from being annoyed with to accepting—and even falling in love with—our most difficult neighbors (including human ones). Along the way, she tells her own story of how she learned about shamanic journeying and its near-universal manifestation in traditional cultures worldwide. She describes what her experiences of shamanic journeying are like—simply, honestly, and with a touch of irreverence. Throughout, she shares an essential truth that resonates across her shamanic explorations: we first must heal our own hearts, for only then can we truly love others and begin to heal planet Earth.
