Sinopse

Charting twelve turbulent years of modern Ukrainian history, from the Maidan protests of 2014 to Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022 and beyond, Ukraine Unbroken is a powerful cycle of short plays about courage, truth and survival in the face of an existential threat.
Across five gripping plays by some of today's most acclaimed British and Ukrainian writers, this volume explores the resistance and resilience of a nation determined to remain free.
Always by Jonathan Myerson depicts a married couple held hostage in a hotel in 2014 as their son protests in Maidan Square below.
Five Day War by David Edgar takes a darkly comic and sinister look at the ambition and delusion of Russia's 2022 'Special Military Operation', the invasion that was 'not an invasion'.
Three Mates by Natalka Vorozhbyt, translated by Sasha Dugdale, explores the shame of survival in a darkly humorous confession from a Ukrainian man hiding from conscription.
Wretched Things by David Greig tells the story of Ukrainian front-line troops who have captured a wounded soldier and must decide whether to risk their own lives to save his.
Taken by Cat Goscovitch confronts the harrowing reality of the twenty thousand Ukrainian children stolen by Russia, following one mother's search for her daughter.

The Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare's earliest and shortest plays. This comedy utilizes slapstick humor, word play, and mistaken identities to create a series of farcical accidents. Over time, the play's title has become an idiom used to describe "an event or series of events made ridiculous by the number of errors that were made throughout."
In Ephesus, the law forbids entry to any merchants from Syracuse, and if they are discovered within the city, they must pay a thousand marks or be put to death. Aegeon, an old Syracusian merchant, is arrested and Solinus, the Duke of Ephesus, listens to his story of coming to the city. Long ago, Aegeon was on a sea voyage. Traveling with him was his wife, his twin sons, and their twin slaves. The family becomes separated during a tempest; Aegeon, one son, and one slave were rescued together, and the others were never to be seen again. Years later his son Antipholus and his slave Dromio left to search for their long lost siblings; after the boys didn't return, Aegeon set out to bring his son back home. Moved by this story, the duke allows Aegeon one day to get the money to pay his fine and to find his family.

Human civilization has come of age. Today, we enjoy unprecedented comfort and convenience compared to our predecessors a couple of centuries ago. Yet, human relationship, like animals in the wild, has largely remained primordial in nature. Regardless of the narratives and justifications, brutal methods are still in use to dominate weaker people and societies to unscrupulously access their resources and usurp power for territorial control and/or influence to survive and thrive. Those who accumulate more resources, climb higher up the societal dominance hierarchy which further guarantees access to more resources and power. The struggle is endless! This poetry book, The Endless Wars, is a "must read book!". The author, David Lubari Biar Lominyo, based on his experience living through numerous civil wars in his own country, the Republic of South Sudan, as well as his long international humanitarian experience working in armed conflict situations in Africa and the Middle east, presents powerful, immersive poetic reflection of brutal action of man in armed conflict environment. He poetically and emotionally highlights the struggles, and the cries of vulnerable people. He further reflects on the determination of nations such as Ukraine now, fighting for freedom against external invasion. Lubari notes that where poor people have struggled and installed a democratically elected government in power, the primordial instinct of the leaders, colluding with the unfair world, may still take advantage of the unequal power relationship with their impoverished population. He offers tools for peace building and leadership skills to improve on societal stability and performance.
