  I am staring at a blank piece of paper, wondering what to write. Where do I begin? My mind begins to wander-pleasant thoughts of Disney's Fantasia dance in my head. The dancing hippopotamus comes to mind, and this made me laugh. The result: I penned a poem on the hippopotamus from which a chapbook was born: The Usefulness of Hippopotamus: A Humorous Chapbook for Trying Times. 
  One cannot imagine a world without humor. Without humor, the world will be dark, cold, and a sad place, tragically lacking joy, cheerfulness, and laughter. 
  Humor is medicine. During rough times, humor will help lighten and lessen physical and mental anxiety. 
  In challenging times, I chose humor. During the Pandemic, I had to deal with my bladder cancer. In my struggle not to get depressed or dwell in negativity, to find solace, contentment, and peace, I chose to seek out beauty and laugh. 
  In search of happiness, the humor worked its charm, resulting in a treasure chest of joy. So, I wrote my chapbook, The Usefulness of Hippopotamus: A Humorous Chapbook for Trying Times and discovered humor even among the hippopotami! 
  You can, too.

  Thomas Brash is trying to escape, but knows he never will. No thinking person can escape from their past. Pursuing him is the memory of the family he lost to cholera. Perhaps he believes that traveling alone in a wild, dangerous land will end all his memories; there is no doubt he wishes to be alone. Whatever his intentions, the appearance of Frank Clement and the circumstances of that meeting upset those plans. 
  Brash views Clement as an uneducated child who requires fatherly protection and guidance. Clement views Brash as a tenderfoot and can not understand how anyone who knows so little could live so long. These two loners are joined by others, and they all become partners. Having achieved relative sanctuary and surrounded by civilization, their wilderness past comes back to haunt them.

  When a student journalist asks to profile her, it feels like an opportunity to control her own narrative – assuming, of course, that the invitation is actually what it seems…
  Stella Feehily's play The Lightest Element is a taut drama exploring how a challenge to social norms can be almost as difficult as overturning scientific orthodoxy. It premiered at Hampstead Theatre, London, in 2024, directed by Alice Hamilton.

  Museum of My Soul

  Museums have different exhibits displaying different eras, regions, etc., and so does this book. My goal is to highlight three sections in romantic relationships, as per how I see them. Every good story has a rise, climax, and fall, this is shown through the book's three sections. Many believe relationships to be a mirror, as do I. Our partners act as a reflection of how we show up in the world. They show us the things we need to work on. Whether and how long those relationships last, is a topic for another conversation. The three exhibits (sections) the book is divided into are as follows: Exhibit A: Falling (The infatuation stages of early love) Exhibit B: Being broken (Relationships acting as our mirrors, showing us our faults) Exhibit C: Ending (When the relationship can no longer work and it comes to its conclusion) I hope you enjoy your tour through the Museum of My Soul, enjoy your stay, and hopefully, you'll come again.
