Sinopsis

Now that the tournament to determine the world’s strongest fighter is over, Rex is on a new mission—recruit some more party members! During his search he comes across two women, the first being the drop-dead gorgeous Lily Harmonix. Lily is a Bard, a class that is incredibly useful for Rex’s purposes, but she also just so happens to be a blackhearted schemer who gave him some serious emotional trauma during a BB playthrough in his previous life. Navigating a relationship with Lily this time around proves equally harrowing, but it’s the death curse hanging over the head of Rex’s second potential party member, Rose, that proves to be his most difficult challenge yet. Unflinching, Rex dives headfirst into a battle against fate, but by saving Rose’s life, will he change the course of BB’s storyline forever?

Alice is playing with two kittens, "Snowdrop" and "Kitty", while she ponders what the world is like on the other side of a mirror's glass. Climbing up onto the fireplace mantel, she pokes at the wall-hung mirror behind the fireplace and discovers, to her surprise, that she is able to step through it to an alternate world...
"Alice Through the Looking-Glass" is a sequel to "Alice in Wonderland". Alice again enters a fantastical world, this time by climbing through a mirror into the world that she can see beyond it. There she finds that, just like a reflection, everything is reversed, including logic. Running helps you remain stationary, walking away from something brings you towards it, chessmen are alive, nursery rhyme characters exist, etc.
It was the first of the "Alice" stories to gain widespread popularity, and prompted a newfound appreciation for its predecessor when it was published.

"The Requiem"  is an 1886 short story by Anton Chekhov.
Andrey Andreyitch, a shopkeeper, comes to the local village church to ask for prayers for his recently deceased daughter Maria, and is chided by the priest for the wrong kind of language that he'd used in his written request. The shopkeeper's daughter was an actress, and quite a well known one, and he simply fails to understand why the clergymen are so offended by the word 'harlot' with which he described her occupation. The rendition of the prayers awaken in Andrey Andreyitch some tender memories of his beautiful, sensitive and intelligent girl, yet even mentally he keeps referring to her as 'harlot' for he can't see how an actress could be described otherwise.

A queer and dangerously hungry mountain lion lives in the drought-devastated land under the Hollywood sign. Lonely and fascinated by humanity’s foibles, the lion spends their days protecting the welfare of a nearby homeless encampment, observing obnoxious hikers complain about their trauma, and, in quiet moments, grappling with the complexities of their gender identity, memories of a vicious father, and the indignities of sentience. “I have so much language in my brain,” our lion says, “and nowhere to put it.” When a man-made fire engulfs the encampment, the lion is forced from the hills down into the city the hikers call “ellay.” As the lion confronts a carousel of temptations and threats, they take us on a tour that spans the cruel inequalities of Los Angeles and the toll of climate grief, while scrambling to avoid earthquakes, floods, and the noise of their own conflicted psyche. But even when salvation finally seems within reach, they are forced to face down the ultimate question: Do they want to eat a person or become one? In elegiac prose woven with humor, imagination, sensuality, and tragedy, Henry Hoke’s Open Throat is a marvel of storytelling, a universal journey through a wondrous and menacing world told by a lovable mountain lion. Both feral and vulnerable, profound and playful, Open Throat is a star-making novel that brings mythmaking to real life.
