Summary

This book comprises eighteen essays which appeared in the monthly
Budo magazine. They are written with simplicity and humour, but with
an underlying discipline and authority derived from a lifetime of spiritual
and martial arts training in Adhyatma Yoga, Judo and Zen. Trevor Leggett
addresses matters including sportsmanship, achieving freedom of mind,
training the inner self, developing an inner calm, and the four keys to
learning – instruction, observation inference and personal experience. He
looks at the cultivation of these Budo qualities and suggests ways in which
the lessons learned can be applied to daily life as well as to the practice
of the martial arts.
Available since: 06/08/2023.

For millennia, human societies have viewed the ocean as a dumping ground for waste products of all kinds. The sources of marine pollution are extensive, including oil spills, sewage, fertilizers, pesticides, industrial wastes, heavy metals, ocean acidification, plastics, and even invasive species, considered biological pollution. Yet, the solutions are not as clear.

Updated to reflect recent research, this book discusses the sources of marine pollutants, their effects on marine organisms and humans, and how to reduce or eliminate them. Weis covers the aftermath of oil spills in addition to "emerging" topics like flame retardants, pharmaceuticals, noise pollution, and PFAS. A new chapter examines the prevalence of microplastics and how they rise through the food chain into human beings, along with their associated toxic chemicals. Additional chapters address the deadly effects of climate change in the ocean but also focus on actions that all people can take, citing recent environmental improvements as a cause for hope.

Why did Putin launch Operation Z in Ukraine? Are Ukrainian forces using neo-Nazi volunteers? What are the forces involved and the reality of the military conflict for the past six months? What do we know about war crimes like Butcha? Have Western economic sanctions worked? Has the massive shipment of arms by the West had an effect on the conflict? After the best-seller Putin: Master of the Game, whose analysis has been praised worldwide, Jacques Baud returns in this book to the root causes of the war in Ukraine and the reasons that pushed Vladimir Putin to intervene on February 24, 2022. Using information from intelligence services and official reports, he analyzes the course of the military actions and the way they were interpreted in the West. He explains the political and economic upheaval of the world order, as well as the long-term consequences of Western sanctions on our daily lives. It reveals how the conflict could have been avoided and what avenues were deliberately left open by the United States and Europe. Colonel Jacques Baud is a former member of the Swiss Strategic Intelligence, a specialist in Eastern Europe and former head of Doctrine of the United Nations Peace Operations. Within NATO, he was involved in programs in Ukraine, including after the Maidan Revolution of 2014 and 2017. He is the author of several books on intelligence, war and terrorism, including Putin, Master of the Game? Governing by Fake News, and The Navalny Affair, all published by Max Milo.

    Analytic Philosophy - Logic and...

The historical context and influences of Analytic Philosophy can be traced through several key developments and intellectual movements that shaped its emergence and evolution.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the philosophical landscape was marked by significant shifts. The decline of Idealism, which had dominated the late 19th century, created a fertile ground for new approaches. The Idealist focus on metaphysical speculation and abstract notions of reality began to be challenged by a rising emphasis on scientific and empirical methods.
Central to the rise of Analytic Philosophy was the development of formal logic. Gottlob Frege, in the late 19th century, revolutionized logic with his introduction of predicate logic, laying a foundational framework that would deeply influence subsequent philosophers. His work aimed to clarify the logical structure of language and mathematics, setting the stage for a new approach to philosophical problems.
The early 20th century saw the emergence of Logical Positivism, a movement spearheaded by the Vienna Circle, which included philosophers such as Moritz Schlick, Rudolf Carnap, and A.J. Ayer. This movement sought to apply the methods of formal logic and empirical science to philosophical problems, rejecting metaphysical claims as meaningless. The Logical Positivists aimed to develop a philosophy that was both scientifically rigorous and free from speculative metaphysics.

The complete reference for understanding the Enochian language (“the language of the angels”), the proper pronunciation of the letters of the Enochian alphabet, and the use of evocations to call forth celestial beings and perform Enochian magic.   In 1581, Dr. John Dee, an advisor in the court of Queen Elizabeth I, began a series of scrying experiments intended to explore the ability to contact the spirit world. With Edward Kelley acting as the medium in these experiments, Dee was able to record these communications as they were transmitted in Enochian, the language of the angels. Dr. Dee’s efforts furthered the development of the system of Enochian magic and his methods of invocation have been taken up and expounded upon by Aleister Crowley and many other magicians.   Donald C. Laycock has thoroughly analyzed the work of Dee and Kelley. In this volume, he recounts the history of their experiments. He provides a pronunciation guide for the twenty-one letters, significant to untangling both the meaning and the derivation of the messages handed down from Dee and Kelley, and an essential Enochian/English and English/Enochian dictionary. The result is a fascinating linguistic and magical mystery story integral to any study of the Enochian tradition.   This new edition of Laycock’s work includes a new preface by Stephen Skinner that sets the tone and historical context for today’s readers. Lon Milo DuQuette’s foreword gives a delightful and edifying description of how he and his students put The Complete Enochian Dictionary to the test with astonishing results. This book is a must-have for any serious magician’s library.
