It is common these days for a single system to host many domains, for example uniswa.com and mtn.com or acme .com may run on a single host machine, but behave as if they were on three different hosts. A system usually has a canonical domain, it has its usual or local domain name, and additional domains are configured as virtual domains. The purpose behind this work is to create a mail server solution based on Postfix that is based on virtual users and domains, i..e. users and domains that are in a MySQL database. The goal is to have completely virtual users and domains. bob@uniswa.com != bob@acme.com. This means creating a separate name spaces for reach domain. It will also demonstrate the installation and configuration of Courier-Imap (IMAP/POP3), so it can authenticate against the same MySQL database Postfix uses. The resulting postfix server is capable of quota which is not built into Postfix by default; the project will demonstrate how to patch postfix appropriately. Passwords are stored in encrypted form in the database. The work also covers the installation of Mail Scanner, SpamAssassin and ClamAv so that emails will be scanned for spams and viruses. The administration of MySQL database can be done through a web based tool Postfixadmin or can be done manually in the MySQL shell. Postfixadmin is a web based management tool created for Postfix that handles Postfix style virtual domains and users that are stored in MySQL. The squirrelmail web based email client is installed, in order to check emails from anywhere in world via internet. All installations were done in Fedora 5 Linux machine.

From the #1 bestselling author of Inside of a Dogand The Year of the Puppy—“an incredible journey into the olfactory world of man’s best friend” (O, The Oprah Magazine), Alexandra Horowitz’s follow-up to her New York Times bestseller explains how dogs experience the world through their most spectacular organ—the nose.In her “fascinating book…Horowitz combines the expertise of a scientist with an easy, lively writing style” (The New York Times Book Review) as she imagines what it is like to be a dog. Guided by her own dogs, Finnegan and Upton, Horowitz sets off on a quest through the cutting-edge science behind the olfactory abilities of the dog. In addition to speaking to cognitive researchers and smell experts, Horowitz visits detection-dog trainers and training centers; she meets researchers working with dogs to detect cancerous cells and anticipate epileptic seizure or diabetic shock; and she even attempts to smell-train her own nose. As we come to understand how rich, complex, and exciting the world around us is to the canine nose, Horowitz changes our perspective on dogs forever. Readers will finish this book feeling that they have broken free of their human constraints and understanding smell as never before; that they have, for however fleetingly, been a dog. And, as The Boston Globe says about Being a Dog, “becoming more doglike, not surprisingly, can make anyone’s life a little more vivid.”

Today there is no place on Earth that does not harbor invasive exotic species. Invasive plants and animals can be found on every continent, including Antarctica, and within all waterbodies, including all oceans. In our increasingly connected world, with speedy commercial and recreational travel and the global movement of biological matter for food, invasive species are showing up at such a fast rate that there is no way to accurately count how many currently exist or how many are likely to emerge in the coming decades. Monitoring these species and controlling their spread is essential, as we increasingly understand the negative impacts they pose: their threat to our health; the toll they take on our commercial production; and the threat they pose to native ecosystems. This Very Short Introduction provides a clear definition of an invasive species, and considers the myriad ways they are moved around the globe, and the ecological, social, and economic impacts they often impose. Exploring the way Earth's biodiversity is being affected by global change, Julie Lockwood also discusses policy and management approaches to combating the ill-effects of invasive species, and how invasive species fit within the broader context of environmental change.

    Lithium - A Doctor a Drug and a...

From insulin comas and lobotomy to incarceration to exile, Walter Brown chronicles the troubling history of the diagnosis and (often ineffective) treatment of bipolar disorder through the centuries, before the publication of a groundbreaking research paper in 1949. Cade's "Lithium Salts in the Treatment of Psychotic Excitement" described, for the first time, lithium's astonishing efficacy at both treating and preventing the recurrence of manic-depressive episodes, and would eventually transform the lives of patients, pharmaceutical researchers, and practicing physicians worldwide. And yet, as Brown shows, it would be decades before lithium would overcome widespread stigmatization as a dangerous substance, and the resistance from the pharmaceutical industry, which had little incentive to promote a naturally occurring drug that could not be patented.Brown also provides a vivid portrait of the story's unlikely hero, John Cade, a devoted naturalist who, unlike many modern medical researchers, did not benefit from prestigious research training or big funding sources. In this revelatory biography of a drug and the man who fought for its discovery, Brown crafts a captivating picture of modern medical history—revealing just how close we came to passing over this extraordinary cure.
