Sinopse

After the murder of T’Rayles’s adopted son, the infamous warrior and daughter of the Indigenous Ibinnas returns to the colonized city of Seventhblade ready to tear the streets asunder in search of her son’s killer. T’Rayles must lean into the dangerous power of her inherited sword and ally herself with questionable forces, including the Broken Fangs, an alliance her mother founded, now fallen into greed and corruption, and the immortal Elraiche, a powerful and manipulative deity exiled from a faraway land. Navigating the power shifts in a colonized city on the edge and contending with a deadly new power emerging from within, T’Rayles risks everything to find the answers, and the justice, she so desperately desires.

Loaded with complex characters and intricately staged action, and set in a fragmented, fascinating world of dangerous magics and cryptic gods, Seventhblade is a masterful new fantasy adventure from a bright emerging Indigenous voice.

The Sky Was Full of Ships by Theodore Sturgeon - They tried Gordon Kent for murder–but who was really responsible?
Sykes died, and after two years they tracked Gordon Kemp down and brought him back, because he was the only man who knew anything about the death. Kemp had to face a coroner's jury in Switchpath, Arizona, a crossroads just at the edge of the desert, and he wasn't too happy about it, being city-bred and not quite understanding the difference between "hicks" and "folks."
The atmosphere in the courtroom was tense. Had there been great wainscoted walls and a statue of blind Justice, it would have been more impersonal and, for Kemp, easier to take. But this courtroom was a crossroads granger's hall in Switchpath, Arizona.
The presiding coroner was Bert Whelson, who held a corncob pipe instead of a gavel. At their ease around the room were other men, dirt-farmers and prospectors like Whelson. It was like a movie short. It needed only a comedy dance number and somebody playing a jug.
But there was nothing comic about it. These hicks were in a position to pile trouble on Kemp, trouble that might very easily wind up in the gas chamber.
The coroner leaned forward. "You got nothin' to be afeard of, son, if your conscience is clear."
"I still ain't talking. I brought the guy in, didn't I? Would I of done that if I'd killed him?"
The coroner stroked his stubble, a soft rasping sound like a rope being pulled over a wooden beam.
"We don't know about that, Kemp. Hmm. Why can't you get it through your head that nobody's accusing you of anything? You're jest a feller knows something about the death of this here Alessandro Sykes. This court'd like to know exactly what happened."
    He hesitated, shuffled.
"Sit down, son," said the coroner.
That did it. He slumped into the straight chair that one of the men pushed up for him, and told this story.

No Evidence by Victoria Lincoln - A man begins to sense that part of himself has slipped away—only to reappear in Ireland, where he was born. What unfolds is a haunting tale of divided identity and the eerie possibility of living two lives at once.
Victoria Lincoln (1904–1981) was an American novelist, biographer, essayist, and occasional contributor to speculative fiction, best remembered for her psychological insight and the quiet, persistent tension woven into her work. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts—a town infamous for its connection to Lizzie Borden—Lincoln grew up with a keen awareness of history, local legend, and the undercurrents of human behavior. She studied at Radcliffe College, later embarking on a writing career that spanned novels, nonfiction, journalism, and short fiction.
Lincoln’s 1934 novel February Hill was among her earliest successes, later adapted into both a stage play and a motion picture. She went on to publish widely in respected periodicals, writing essays, social commentary, and book reviews. But she also had an enduring fascination with mystery and crime, which culminated in her acclaimed biography A Private Disgrace: Lizzie Borden by Daylight (1967), a meticulous psychological portrait of Fall River’s most infamous resident. That book, drawing upon her own intimate knowledge of the town, remains one of the most compelling examinations of the Borden case ever written.
Over the decades, Victoria Lincoln’s work earned her respect not only for its literary polish but also for its unique mixture of empathy and unflinching observation.
