An aging nuclear submarine—A lockout saturation-diving system—A handful of daredevil heroes!
“Over the past few decades, action-adventure stories about submarines and diving have become a popular genre. Tom Clancy and Clive Cussler come to mind as exemplars. But Robert Williscroft really raises the bar with this book. Not only is he an outstanding writer, but he is also a ‘doer,’ having participated in the events described in Operation Ivy Bells.”—Captain Don Walsh USN, PhD, USN Submersible Pilot #1, Officer in Charge Bathyscaph Trieste, 1959-1962
A super-secret, off-the-books spy organization; a security-clearance starting at Top Secret and going up; an attack by giant squid during a thousand-foot dive while breathing an exotic gas; a cat’s whisker escape from death during a 3-day decompression—and that’s just the first two chapters of Operation Ivy Bells, before the action really gets underway.
In a fast-paced, personal narrative, J.R. “Mac” MacDowell details a breathtaking series of events during a top-secret intelligence gathering operation at the height of the Cold War. Riding the nuclear submarine Halibut, Mac and his saturation diving team surreptitiously enter Soviet-controlled Sea of Okhotsk to install a tap on an underwater communications cable at 400 feet, and narrowly escape death when a storm snaps Halibut’s anchor cables. They retrieve missile parts from a Soviet missile-test splash-zone, getting caught in a sonar-web set by the crafty skipper of an old Soviet diesel submarine. Later, Halibut is outfitted with skids so she can sit on the bottom. Mac and his team attach a 12-thousand-pound recording pod to the cable. In the missile splash-zone, they lock in deadly underwater combat with Soviet divers.
Halibut finally returns home without ever publicly revealing their crucial contribution to winning the Cold War.
Narrated by Mark Budwill, the voice of the Oakland A's. Includes PDF companion including images, diagrams, glossary, and supplemental material.

In the flawless, sterile city of Halcyra, love comes with an expiration date. And a broken heart is a deadly contagion.
Genevieve Grace is the perfect instrument of the state. As a Licensed Mourning Mediator for the Ministry of Concordance, she has undergone a radical, irreversible neurological procedure to eradicate her capacity for empathy. Her job is simple: when a citizen’s assigned partner dies, Genevieve administers the chemical neutralizer that wipes away their grief, preserving the society's cold, calculating equilibrium.
She has never failed. She has never felt. Until Tobias Stewart.
Tobias is a quiet archivist who has committed the ultimate treason: he has refused to stop loving his deceased wife. He won't take the cure. He won't sign the dissolution contract. He would rather face the terrifying violence of a complete neurological wipe than surrender his memories of her.
Tasked with breaking him, Genevieve instead finds her impenetrable conditioning cracking. Tobias's profound, enduring sorrow isn't the chaotic madness the Ministry warned her about—it is an anchor. And as Genevieve listens to the ghost of a love story she was sent to destroy, an impossible, forbidden ache begins to bloom in her own empty chest.
The Weight of an Empty Room is the breathtaking second volume in John Newbill's The Ministry of Ruined Vows. It is a haunting exploration of dystopian control, psychological rebellion, and the beautiful, agonizing truth that some love simply refuses to die.

With no clear enemy to fight, there may be no place left for him in this postwar world. Some call him hero, others view him with resentment.
As Anya struggles to create alliances to re-form the Coalition of Ordered Governments, she quickly discovers how impossible it is to tell friend from foe. Then whispers of Locust still stalking the land begin to spread. Fearing the worst, Marcus forms a team to assess the potential threat. As he and the other Gears search for Locust survivors, however, they quickly discover that the new enemy may be all-too-human, and utterly ruthless.

She has no memory of her life before him—or of the danger that threatens her now.
Her name is Rae. At least, that’s what the security specialist with the searing hazel eyes and the magnificent body tells her. Saint Solorio, the man she was living with before a car ran her down and she lost all memory of who she is—and who is trying to kill her.
Now she needs his help. His protection. But she won’t let him get through her guard again. That’s a mistake she doesn’t dare repeat when anyone around her could be the enemy.
Rae knocked Saint off his barstool the first time he spotted her across a crowded room. When she asked him to take her home, he’d growled his acceptance despite knowing a one-night stand wasn’t all he wanted. Not with this woman. Too bad the name she’d given him wasn’t hers. And even worse, he is forced to lie to keep her with him.
Now Saint is racing to discover the past of the woman he wants for his own, and uncover the threat that could take her away from him—and also take her life.
Narrated in duet by Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter. Includes the bonus short “Be With Me,” Dain and Olivia’s birth story.
