In the fertile valleys along the Yellow and Yangtze Rivers, where mist clings to rugged mountains and flows through ancient bamboo forests, the foundations of one of humanity's most enduring civilizations were laid thousands of years ago. "Early Chinese Dynasties: The Dawn of Chinese Civilization" invites readers on a captivating journey through three formative dynasties that shaped the cultural, political, and philosophical landscape of China for millennia to come.
The semi-legendary Xia Dynasty emerges from the shadows of prehistory as China's first hereditary state, traditionally dated to the third millennium BCE. While archaeological evidence remains elusive, the stories of Yu the Great taming floods and establishing systems of governance provided the foundational mythology for Chinese civilization. Here, we explore both the historical debates surrounding the Xia and the archaeological discoveries at sites like Erlitou that may represent this elusive first dynasty.
With the Shang Dynasty, we step onto firmer historical ground. From their capital cities at Zhengzhou and later Anyang, Shang kings presided over a sophisticated bronze-working civilization that developed China's earliest known writing system. The oracle bones—animal scapulae and turtle shells inscribed with divination records—offer unprecedented insights into the religious practices, military campaigns, and royal genealogies of this brilliant Bronze Age society. The magnificent ritual bronze vessels they created, with their intricate designs and ceremonial significance, remain among humanity's greatest artistic achievements.
The Zhou Dynasty—China's longest-lasting royal house—would build upon these foundations while introducing revolutionary concepts that would define Chinese civilization for thousands of years.

The spiritual journey of the Beatles is the story of an entire generation of visionaries in the sixties who transformed the world. The Inner Light illumines hidden meanings of the Beatles' India-influenced lyrics and sounds, decoded by Susan Shumsky—a rare insider who spent two decades in the ashrams and six years on the personal staff of the Beatles' mentor, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

This eye-opening book draws back the curtain on the Beatles' experiments with psychedelics, meditation, chanting, and Indian music. Among many shocking revelations, we discover who invented "raga rock" (not the Beatles), the real identity of rare Indian instruments and musicians on their tracks, which Beatle was the best meditator (not George), why the Beatles left India in a huff, John and George's attempts to return, Maharishi's accurate prediction, and who Sexy Sadie, Jojo, Bungalow Bill, Dear Prudence, Blackbird, My Sweet Lord, Hare Krishna, and the Fool on the Hill really were.

Half a century later, the Beatles have sold more records than any other recording artist. A new generation wants to relive the magic of the flower-power era and is now discovering the message of this iconic band and its four superstars. For people of all nations and ages, the Beatles' mystique lives on. The Inner Light is Susan Shumsky's gift to their legacy.

With the last decade's television boom across a multitude of platforms, American audiences are being treated to a cascade of shows that some have trumpeted as a second Golden Age. But something completely new is stirring, too—the Rainbow Age. For the first time in the history of American television, we have shows in which LGBTQIA+ characters have evolved from being an anomaly to being an almost given and celebrated presence on the small screen. But what more can queer TV do? Is each new queer character really breaking ground? And has the curse of the fictional dead lesbian finally been defeated?

The Rainbow Age of Television tackles these questions and more as author Shayna Maci Warner tracks the history and evolution of LGBTQIA+ icons across the televised ages and into the future—from the first televised queer kiss (we think) to the shows that are making household names and heroes of queer characters. Warner uses original interviews with queer TV icons along with detailed history to investigate the constraints under which queer people have been allowed to exist on American television. The Rainbow Age of Television explores why queer people are so invested in—and conflicted by—the kinds of storytelling that TV has to offer. Above all, it's a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ shows, their characters, and their creators that define this new age in television.

    The Songwriting Magic Formula
    The shortcut to melody creation
The songwriting tips and tricks no one ever told you about.
Instantly compose HIT vocal melodies with the backing chords at the same time.
This audio book dispels the myths of songwriting and destroys the negatives that hold songwriters back
and ends songwriters block in melody.
    Short extract from book
Let’s get rid of a few myths. There’s no set way to create a melody.
This is True and at the same time Not true. But only in the minds of those people that know everything ?
Pupil says to mentor, “I know you’re going to teach me how to write better songs, but how do I come up with the actual melody?”
The mentor turns to the pupil and says. “Well, that’s the million dollar question. I wish I could just say, ‘sit there with your guitar do this, and out will pop a melody’. But unfortunately, there’s no such thing as a magic formula”.
This isn’t true. Let’s blow the other myth out of the water. The one where they say composing cannot be taught. Well, I’ve just learned you how to create 2 HIT vocal melodies in examples 1 and 2 another vocal melody in less than 15 seconds in example three and 2 more in the challenge. Usually it only takes a few seconds to hear the new melody being born. Now you can teach your friends and family how to compose a melody in less than 10 minutes. Even if they’ve never composed a melody before.
And not just any melodies but catchy hit melodies.
