Sinopsis

A riveting, epic historical novel set in 1940's Germany.

For all her life, idealistic 20-year-old bookworm Magdalena Arber has been split down the middle: veering wildly between fidelity to indoctrinated Nazi beliefs, and her father's humanist values. Then comes the summons–the Nazi War Labour Service is conscripting her into a teaching position in East Prussia. Magda is elated. It's a release from the cosy cage of childhood, and a chance to form young minds.

She enters a lush rural world of forests, lakes, and meadows where order prevails. Yet there are monstrous hands out to shape the whole continuum of earthly creatures. The Gestapo are a lurking darkness. There is bombing further East, and news of a moving Russian front. Will Alt Schönbek burn as well? Can Magda survive?

All snowed in and nowhere to go…
Forty year-old Natalie Leonidis booked her stay at Crystal Springs Getaways long before the weather report came in. With her ex getting remarried, the successful author of a popular detective series was just looking for a quiet way to spend the holidays. She wasn’t counting on the travel agent double booking her coveted one bedroom cabin!
Bron Beckett needed a break from running his Fortune 500 company. After two failed marriages, he could attest to the fact that women and wealth were not always friends. It was getting harder to know if a woman wanted him or what was in his bank account. Being single during the holidays was the worst.
It was like everyone had a cousin or sister for him to meet—but not this year. He had plans to get away from it all. With the latest release from his favorite author and a tumbler of his favorite label, Whiskey Neat, Bron was going to kick back while the yule log crackled in the fireplace.
Sounded like a perfect Christmas. But he wasn’t the only one with designs on cabin 1225. His uninvited guest could stay and make the best of it. Or leave and take her chances with the incoming blizzard.
One look at her luscious figure and Bron knew exactly what he wanted—to spend Christmas Eve with the curvy Natalie wrapped around him. No reservations. No rules.
Just her yule and his log.

The great author of Vanity Fair and The Luck Of Barry Lyndon was born in India in 1811. At age 5 his father died and his mother sent him back to England. His education was of the best but he himself seemed unable to apply his talents to a rigorous work ethic. However, once he harnessed his talents the works flowed in novels, articles, short stories, sketches and lectures. Sadly, his personal life was rather more difficult. After a few years of marriage his wife began to suffer from depression and over the years became detached from reality. Thackeray himself suffered from ill health later in his life and the one pursuit that kept him moving forward was that of writing. In his life time, he was placed second only to Dickens. High praise indeed.

One of humanity's worst nightmares has happened. The dead rose from their graves. Chaos and death follows but humanity prevails. A new governmental branch, Revenant Reintegration, creates housing and jobs for the undead, to forge a future where both the living and formally deceased can live harmoniously. But things are far from perfect.
Alfie, a law-abiding citizen, lives a monotonous, lonely existence, delivering meals to RR residential blocks, with little memory of his former life. The endless tedium is disrupted when Jake, a handsome revenant, catches his eye and asks Alfie on a date.
Jake invites him to Cadere, a restaurant which caters exclusively to residents. Nervous and very much out of practice, Alfie is charmed by Jake and thrilled by the possibility of finding love ... until their meal is served.
When the opportunity to indulge in his darkest craving is put right in front of him, will Alfie hold back the monster he truly is or give in to satiate his hunger?
