Synopsis

Ten-and-three-quarter-year-old Laura "Noodle" Newman had high hopes about going to sleepaway camp for the first time. Once she's there, however, Noodle is miserable. No one can help her get over her terrible homesickness. Things go from bad to worse when Noodle panics while talking on the camp's radio station. Noodle's moment to shine becomes a bout of stage fright as her bunkmates laugh at her. As a menacing hurricane heads up the coast, life at Camp Hillside turns upside down. Through the craziness, Noodle realizes that only one person can make her feel better: herself. Told in Noodle's witty, earnest, and distinctive voice, Hurricamp! emulates the quirkiness of Beverly Cleary's Ramona books combined with Judy Blume's relatable dialogue. Parents and children alike will identify with Noodle's vulnerabilities and the humorous lessons she learns on her adventures at Camp Hillside.

This is the second to last book in the OZ series that Baum actually wrote himself before he passed away. "A Faithful Record of the Remarkable Adventures of Dorothy and Trot and the Wizard of Oz, together with the Cowardly Lion, the Hungry Tiger and Cap'n Bill, in their successful search for a Magical and Beautiful Birthday Present for Princess Ozma of Oz." - Summary by Baum. Almost all the marvelous creatures of OZ are involved in this far reaching adventure story with tons of danger, evil magic, dastardly plots and heroic last minute acts of bravery to finally save the day. The Lonesome Duck makes her first and last appearance in this book which, by itself, makes it a 'must listen to' in my opinion.

For English people Beatrix Potter (1866–1943) is as famous as L.Carroll and A.A.Milne. We hardly know her fairy tales: in spite of their simplicity, her wonderful stories about rabbits, mice, frogs, and squirrels are very difficult to translate – they are full of idioms, puns and lambent humour.
Graham Greene called Beatrix Potter "Children' Jane Austen" for deep understanding of the human nature, soft irony, ideal language and style.
The collection The Great Big Treasury of Beatrix Potter contains her best fairy tales that have been stealing a way to little readers' hearts for almost one hundred years already.

The Mindful Body: Hakomi Approach to Emotional Well-Being and Personal Growth is a transformative guide to the profound healing potential of mindfulness-based somatic therapy. Grounded in the pioneering Hakomi Method, this book offers a compassionate and experiential path to emotional clarity, personal insight, and lasting change.
Through eleven insightful chapters, readers are gently introduced to the foundational concepts of core beliefs and the central principles that define Hakomi, nonviolence, mindfulness, unity, and organicity. The book then transitions into the practical application of the method, illuminating how the body holds emotional truths and how gentle, present-moment awareness can unlock deep self-understanding.
The Mindful Body speaks to therapists and seekers alike, covering topics ranging from working with emotional states and the inner child to embracing resistance as hidden wisdom and fostering transformative healing relationships. It also explores how mindfulness can catalyze personal transformation, meet unmet developmental needs, and support integration beyond the therapy room.
Accessible, insightful, and deeply human, this book is both a map and a mirror, offering a thoughtful synthesis of theory and practice for anyone interested in embodied healing, mindfulness, and personal growth. Whether you're a mental health professional or a curious explorer of the self, The Mindful Body is a wise and compassionate companion on the journey toward wholeness.

It's here: Volume One of the official Guys Read Library. Jon Scieszka's Guys Read initiative was founded on a simple premise: that young guys enjoy reading most when they have reading they can enjoy. And out of this comes a series that aims to give them just that. Ten books, arranged by theme, featuring the best of the best where writing for kids is concerned. Each book is a collection of original short stories, but these aren't your typical anthologies—each book is edgy, inventive, visual, and one-of-a-kind, featuring a different theme for guys to get excited about.
Funny Business is based around the theme of—what else—humor, and if you're familiar with Jon and Guys Read, you already know what you're in store for: ten hilarious stories from some of the funniest writers around. Before you're through, you'll meet a teenage mummy; a kid desperate to take a dip in the world's largest pool of chocolate milk; a homicidal turkey; parents who hand over their son's room to a biker; the only kid in his middle school who hasn't turned into a vampire, wizard, or superhero; and more. And the contributor list includes bestselling author, award winners, and fresh new talent alike: Mac Barnett, Eoin Colfer, Christopher Paul Curtis, Kate DiCamillo (writing with Jon Scieszka), Paul Feig, Jack Gantos, Jeff Kinney, David Lubar, Adam Rex, and David Yoo.
Guys Read is all about turning young readers into lifelong ones—and with this book, and each subsequent installment in the series, we aim to leave no guy unturned.
