Our recent storms didn't start in 2020 or 2016. They started decades ago in the 1960s - a whirlwind of threatened nuclear catastrophe, then police dogs and rednecks terrorizing civil rights marchers down south, then Vietnamese children fleeing from napalm flames. Then draft notices to go to Vietnam to "fight commies."
A small town boy started by supporting rightist Goldwater against the "peace candidate" Johnson, but rapidly changed in the face of the civil rights and anti-war movements, and started a quest that hasn't ended yet.
This book tells Dee Knight's story of "waking up" to the truth about the US war in Vietnam, then refusing the draft and going to Canada where he lived for six years. It relates the years-long campaign for amnesty, in which Knight was a leader. After war resisters won a partial amnesty, Knight continued campaigning against US wars up to the present day.
    There are chapters on:
    The political storms of 1968
    Exile life in Canada
The years-long campaign for universal unconditional amnesty
Antiwar veterans and active duty soldiers and sailors, including the sanctuary movement
Witnessing Portugal's "Carnation Revolution" of 1975
Living and working in Sandinista Nicaragua
Socialism and the Green New Deal
    "Messages from the Future"
    Reflections on the Pandemic
The Battle to Expand and Protect Democracy
Appendices on Vietnam's victory in 1975, and on the reality of life and politics in China

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice.
THE WISDOM OF CARL JUNG is a captivating journey into the heart of Jungian psychology, exploring the profound ideas that shaped our understanding of the human psyche. Through thirty concise yet powerful chapters, this audiobook illuminates Jung’s core concepts—archetypes, the shadow, synchronicity, dreams, symbols, mandalas, and the collective unconscious—with clarity and depth.
Rather than serving as a guide or reference manual, this work is a narrative synthesis of Jung's intellectual legacy. It begins with his early influences and dramatic break with Freud, then builds toward his groundbreaking insights into depth psychology.
Listeners will discover how archetypes like the hero, the mother, and the wise old man influence both personal and cultural life. The audiobook dives into the interplay between the persona and the shadow, unveiling their essential roles in psychological development. Dreams and synchronicities emerge as bridges between the conscious and unconscious, while symbols and mandalas become keys to inner transformation.
Beyond his better-known theories, this exploration ventures into Jung's lesser-known fascinations—alchemy, paranormal research, and Eastern spiritual traditions—revealing them as vital elements of his holistic vision of the soul.
The final chapters reflect on Jung’s enduring influence in contemporary life, from politics and art to religion and popular culture. His concept of the collective unconscious continues to shed light on modern society’s myths and struggles.
Accessible yet intellectually rigorous, this audiobook is an invitation to immerse yourself in the depth of Jungian thought. It avoids simplifications while offering a clear structure, making it indispensable for those seeking to understand Carl Jung’s profound and timeless contributions to psychology and beyond.

In the decades after the Apollo program, American space shuttles flew over 130 missions and successfully completed over 98% of them, but unfortunately, the two most famous missions were the ones that ended tragically aboard the Challenger and Columbia.
The Space Shuttle Challenger was the most heavily used space shuttle in the three years it was operational, carrying the first minority astronaut and woman astronaut into space. Challenger was also the first space shuttle to complete a landing at night.
On the morning of January 28, 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger launched for the 10th time, beginning mission STS-51-L. Space shuttles had already successfully completed 24 missions, and no American spacecraft had ever failed to reach orbit during an official mission. On this mission, the Challenger was carrying a satellite for the Tracking and Data Relay Satellites system, which was to be deployed in orbit. Ascent seemed to be going normally during the first minute, but about 75 seconds into the ascent, a plastic O-ring used to seal a joint in one of the solid rocket boosters failed, causing a breach of hot gas. That gas spread to the other rocket booster and the external fuel tank, causing an explosion. When the spectators saw the explosion, many of them started cheering, unaware of what was really happening.
The notorious date of the Challenger disaster was commemorated by the crew of the Columbia while they were in space in 2003, and a few days later, on February 1, the Columbia was due to land at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 09:16. Only a few members of the press were present to watch the landing - this was, after all, supposed to be a routine return from a routine mission, the 113th for the shuttle program and the 28th for Columbia, one of the oldest Space Shuttles.

Neem Karoli Baba, known to his followers as Maharaj-ji, was a mystic saint and devotee of Hanuman. Maharaj-ji’s teachings were simple and universal. He often said, “Sub Ek” — All is One. He taught us to “love everyone, serve everyone, remember God, and tell the truth.” Strongly connected to Hanuman, God in the form of a monkey, Maharaj-ji taught in a highly personalized, non-traditional way that reflected the deep devotion of the bhakti path of the heart. Known as the “Miracle Baba” throughout north India, he manifested many siddhis (powers), such as being in two places at once or putting devotees in samadhi (elevated state of God consciousness) at the touch of a finger. Here is the essence of his remarkable life and teachings. He is known outside India for being the spiritual master of a number of Americans who traveled to India in the '60s and '70s, including Ram Dass and Bhagavan Das, as well as musician Krishna Das. For many years Baba was closely associated with silent sadhu Baba Hari Dass.

Dr. Richard Alpert, a former Harvard professor was an icon of the hippie, LSD-fueled revolution of the '60s. After that, on a trip to India - like Clark Kent changing into Superman - he became the much-beloved spiritual teacher Baba Ram Das. His '70s iconic book, Be Here Now, turned on a generation to the deep, nonsectarian spirituality within us all. Krishna Das is an American vocalist known for performing Vedic devotional music known as kirtan. Bhagavan Das is an American yogi who lived for six years in India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. He is a bhakti yogi, kirtan singer, spiritual teacher, and writer. Baba Hari Dass was initiated in the Vairagi Vaishnava order in 1942. Dass has practiced continual silence since 1952. This is the true story of each of the spiritual "Gang of four" and their master and deep inspiration Neem Karol Baba.

The writer of this book is well aware that it will not stand the test of criticism as a literary production. A frontiersman himself, his opportunities for acquiring information, and for supplying the deficiencies of a rather limited education, have of course been "few and far between;" and therefore it cannot be reasonably expected that he could make a book under such circumstances which would not be sadly defective as to style and composition. However, it can justly lay claim to at least one merit, not often found in similar publications—it is not a compilation of imaginary scenes and incidents, concocted in the brain of one who never was beyond the sound of a dinner-bell in his life, but a plain, unvarnished story of the "'scapes and scrapes" of Big-Foot Wallace, the Texas Ranger and Hunter, written out from notes furnished by himself, and told, as well as my memory serves me, in his own language.
