Sinopsis

Streaming Era Data explores how digital platforms have revolutionized music consumption, using data analysis to uncover significant shifts in the music industry. It examines how music has become more accessible and deeply integrated into daily life, while also highlighting the economic impacts on artists and the industry. The book delves into the algorithms and data analytics that drive streaming platforms, influencing both user experience and musical trends. For instance, the rise of algorithmic playlists has fundamentally changed how listeners discover new music, sometimes overshadowing traditional methods.

The book's approach progresses from the history of music distribution to a detailed examination of the streaming era's specific aspects, such as artist revenue and the globalization of musical tastes. It presents a data-driven analysis of the streaming ecosystem, moving beyond simple observations to provide statistical evidence supporting its claims.

A key insight is how streaming platforms, while democratizing access, have also created new forms of gatekeeping and economic concentration, altering music's value proposition.

The Book Of Tea - How A Humble...

    Okakura Kakuzō

"Tea began as a medicine and grew into a beverage... Teaism is a cult founded on the adoration of the beautiful among the sordid facts of everyday existence... It inculcates purity and harmony, the mystery of mutual charity, the romanticism of the social order. It is essentially a worship of the Imperfect."

In this short but enlightenimg book, Okakura Kakuzo reveals that tea is a doorway to the soul of the East and the essence of Japanese art and culture. He traces tea's journey from Chinese medicine to Japanese ceremony. The essence of the journey is in the tea masters, who influence everything from architecture and home decor to fashion and social norms. The Sukiya tearoom, or Abode of Fancy, is "an oasis in the dreary waste of existence", intentionally simple and asymmetical, for "true beauty could be discovered only by one who mentally completed the incomplete", .

Through the twin philosophies of Daoism and Zen, Okakura shows how tea infuses the art of living: how to arrange flowers as an offering, how to walk a garden path as a meditation, how to approach a masterpiece as one would "approach a great prince." "The truly beautiful must be always in it", whether in a single perfect flower plucked from a garden, a kettle that sings of distant seas, or a bowl that holds "the sweet reticence of Confucius, the piquancy of Laotse, and the ethereal aroma of Sakyamuni himself."

As Kakuzo says, "Let us have a sip of tea. The afternoon glow is brightening the bamboos, the fountains are bubbling with delight, the soughing of the pines is heard in our kettle. Let us dream of evanescence, and linger in the beautiful foolishness of things."

We can compare the whole cosmic universe with a dark room. Inside

the room a few candles are flickering. With this candle-light the

room is being slightly illuminated. We can call this candle-light as

energy. Centring such energy each universe has developed. Several

    similar universes are positioned parallelly.

The universe we are in does not only mean our earth or the solar

system, but everything surrounding makes up our universe. Between

two such adjacent universes there is a huge dark vacant space. By

making an aperture through the wormhole we can cross this dark

vacant space within minutes and go from one universe to another.

The human body is the primary instrument of war, yet those waging war often confront soldiers' bodies in a detached or merely intellectual way. In The Tenderness of Silent Minds, Martha C. Nussbaum, a leading thinker on emotion, morality, and justice, conducts a pioneering study of Benjamin Britten's musical representations of the tender male body amidst the brutality of war, and their ability to transform consciousness by evoking potent, non-personal emotions.

Offering a reading of Britten's views about the value and beauty of the body that situates these in the context of his thirty-nine year partnership with his lover, the singer Peter Pears, and also surveying pacifist themes in works written both before and after War Requiem, Nussbaum presents a compelling framework for critically assessing Britten's oeuvre. Nussbaum engages with a remarkably wide range of Britten's works, examining his treatment of aggression and its roots in his collaborations with the poet W. H. Auden, offering readings of the value placed on the body in early partnerships with Britten's beloved and singer Peter Pears, and surveying pacifist themes in Britten's earlier works. The analysis throughout is enriched with perspectives from Britten's personal letters and thoughtful study of the social and political backdrop of fear and homophobic disgust in mid-twentieth century Britain.
