The search for the world’s oldest living organism has captivated scientists, explorers, and nature enthusiasts for centuries. We live on a planet rich with ancient life forms, many of which have endured through cataclysmic events and the passage of millennia. Some of these life forms are not only ancient but also incredibly resilient, surviving in ways that defy our understanding of biology and time itself. Yet, despite our advances in science, there remains a mystery at the heart of this search: which organism can truly lay claim to being the oldest?

In this journey through time, we will explore some of the most remarkable organisms that have existed on Earth for thousands, even millions, of years. From the towering bristlecone pines of North America, some of which are thought to be more than 5,000 years old, to the sprawling Pando colony of aspen trees in Utah, whose root system has been alive for over 80,000 years, these living beings challenge our concepts of life and death. While each of these organisms may appear different on the surface, they share a unique ability to survive for much longer than the average lifespan of most creatures.

Understanding the oldest living organisms is not just about marvelling at their age; it is about unlocking the secrets they hold. How do these organisms defy aging and decay? What survival strategies have they developed over the eons? And perhaps most importantly, what can we learn from their resilience that could help us navigate the challenges of our rapidly changing world?

Mathematical Devotionals serves as a guide to connect Christianity with mathematics through a year's worth of inspirational prompts and meditations. Each devotional is self-contained, including scripture verses and an image. The devotionals fall into four categories:
    · Mathematical connections to Christianity
    · Semi-biographical devotionals of Christian mathematicians
    · Devotionals based on quotes either by a mathematician or about mathematics
    · A few devotionals using logical reasoning as a form of Christian apologetics
The devotionals use mathematics, statistics, computer science, and even occasionally stray into the other science areas to provide a variety of engaging connections to Christianity. The book is intended to show how mathematics and other scientific fields should be considered complementary to Christianity rather than adversarial.
    About the Author:
Dale K. Hathaway has been a faculty member, department chair, and recently selected as the Associate Dean for the Martin D. Walker School of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois
since 1989. He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Boston University. Mathematically, he has a passion for finding and presenting "Birthday Problem" connections and, as a Christian, he loves finding ways to connect his profession with his faith.

The evolution of mobile networks has been marked by significant technological advancements, each bringing us closer to a more connected world. From the early days of 1G, which introduced voice communication, to the high-speed data services of 4G, each generation has made its mark. However, 5G technology is set to revolutionize connectivity, offering not just faster speeds but also enabling new capabilities that were previously unimaginable. Understanding 5G is essential, as it holds the potential to transform industries, enhance our daily lives, and shape the future of communication.
What sets 5G apart from its predecessors is its sheer speed and low latency. While 4G networks provided impressive data speeds, 5G can offer speeds up to 100 times faster, making it possible to download and stream data almost instantaneously. This leap in speed opens up a wide range of possibilities, from improved mobile broadband services to enhanced user experiences in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). Furthermore, 5G is designed to handle more devices simultaneously, addressing the growing demands of the Internet of Things (IoT). With billions of connected devices expected to flood the market, 5G ensures that the infrastructure can support this explosion of smart gadgets and sensors.
Low latency, another hallmark of 5G technology, plays a critical role in reducing the time it takes for data to travel between devices and networks. This low-latency characteristic makes 5G particularly valuable for applications that require real-time communication, such as autonomous vehicles, remote surgeries, and live-streamed events. The ability to transmit data with minimal delay opens up a new era of connectivity, where immediate responses are critical to the success of many systems.

A gripping memoir of bravery and sacrifice by a young woman whose escape from her abusive family and an oppressive culture in Saudi Arabia captivated the world
In early 2019, after three years of careful planning, Rahaf Mohammed finally escaped her abusive family in Saudi Arabia—but made it only to Bangkok before being stripped of her passport. If forced to return home, she was sure she would be killed, like other rebel women in her country. As men pounded at the door of her barricaded hotel room, she opened a Twitter account. The teenager reached out to the world, and the world answered—she gained 45,000 followers in one day, and those followers helped her seek asylum in the West.
Now Rahaf Mohammed tells her remarkable story in her own words, revealing untold truths about life in the closed kingdom, where young women are brought up in a repressive system that puts them under the legal control of a male guardian. Raised with immense financial privilege but under the control of her male relatives—including her high-profile politician father—she endured an abusive childhood in which oppression and deceit were the norm.
Moving from Rahaf’s early days on the underground online network of Saudi runaways, who use coded entries to learn how to flee the brutalities of their homeland, to her solo escape to Canada, Rebel is a breathtaking and life-affirming memoir about one woman’s tenacious pursuit of freedom.

Brilliant, witty, perceptive essays about fly-fishing, the natural world, and life in general by the acknowledged master of fishing writers.

"In the world of fishing there are magic phrases that are guaranteed to summon the demon. Among them are: 'remote trout lake,' 'fish up to thirteen pounds,' 'the place the guides fish on their days off,'" writes John Gierach in this wonderful collection of thirteen essays inspired by a fishing trip to Rat Lake, a remote body of water in Montana. Once again John Gierach does what he does best—explain the peculiarities of the fishing life in a way that will amuse novices and seasoned fly fishers alike. The View from Rat Lake deftly examines man in nature and nature in man, the pleasures of fishing the high country, and the high and low comedy that occasionally overcomes even the best-planned fishing trip.
