The sixth book in Laura Ingalls Wilder’s treasured Little House series, and the recipient of a Newbery Honor.
The town of De Smet in the Dakota Territory is hit with terrible blizzards in the hard winter of 1880-81, and the Ingalls family must ration their food and coal. When the supply train doesn’t arrive, all supplies are cut off from the outside. Soon there is almost no food left, so young Almanzo Wilder and a friend must make a dangerous trip in search of provisions.
The nine Little House books are inspired by Laura’s own childhood and have been cherished by generations of readers as both a unique glimpse into America’s frontier history and as heartwarming, unforgettable stories.

Feasting on tapas and wine, the six male and six female mice, each with a unique personality and a designated mariachi instrument, dream of sharing their music with the world. They embark on a tour across Mexico, captivating audiences of fellow mice while skillfully evading the clutches of menacing cats. Their talent doesn't go unnoticed, and a human record producer catapults them to stardom. Overnight, they are living a life of luxury, complete with fancy sports cars and designer mouseholes. However, their newfound fame causes them to forget their humble beginnings and their families. A chance encounter with a poor mouse family serves as a poignant reminder of their roots, prompting them to return to their hometown. They use their wealth to enrich their community, building schools and hospitals. The Mariachi Mice continue to make music, their songs now imbued with a deeper sense of purpose, gratitude, and the enduring importance of family and community.
