What makes The Beautiful Strokes of God so helpful and unique is that it’s written by a pastor who knows and believes that Bible. He personally experienced the hopelessness and despair that came after a disabling illness. He knows what it’s like to battle through all the misunderstandings that Christians have about mental illness. He felt the emotional pain of having his faith severely challenged by his illness and the tormenting thoughts that raged in his mind. Through his diligent pursuit of the truth, God showed him the path to victory which he will share with you in the pages of this life changing book.Allan Gallant’s heartbeat is to change the conversation about mental illness in the church. His goal is to give Christians a Biblically based explanation of mental illness and how to successfully recover mentally, spiritually and emotionally. Then churches can become a place of healing, hope and recovery rather than condemnation, shame, and denial. If you have struggled with mental illness, or have a loved one who is struggling, this book will bring hope and shine a light on the darkness of despair. It should also be required reading for anyone in a helping profession who wants to understand what it feels like to go through this trial of faith and then recovery.

Image Generation AI is a comprehensive guide that covers the basics of image generation with artificial intelligence. The book provides an in-depth understanding of the field, including its applications, challenges, and future trends. It is designed for both beginners and advanced learners who want to explore the world of image generation using machine learning techniques.
The book starts with an introduction to image generation AI, covering the foundations of the field and its significance in various industries. It then delves into the different types of image generation models, including Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and Variational Autoencoders (VAEs), and their capabilities. The book also explores advanced techniques in image generation, such as conditional image generation and transfer learning.
Another significant aspect of the book is its emphasis on building an image generation model from scratch. It provides a step-by-step guide to creating a simple image generation model using Python and the Keras library, making it accessible to readers with no prior knowledge in machine learning. The book also covers popular image generation models, including DALL-E and Stable Diffusion Models, and their applications.
The book concludes by discussing the challenges and limitations of image generation AI, such as ethical considerations and future trends. It also provides an overview of interactive image generation, image generation for specific domains, and case studies in image generation. Finally, it offers practical advice on building a scalable image generation pipeline and explores the various applications of image generation AI.

The body is central to our sense of identity. Bodily awareness, says scientist-writer Moheb Costandi, is key to self-consciousness. In Body Am I, Costandi examines how the brain perceives the body, how that perception translates into our conscious experience of the body, and how that experience contributes to our sense of self. Along the way, he explores what can happen when the mechanisms of bodily awareness are disturbed, leading to such phenomena as phantom limbs, alien hands, and amputee fetishes.

Costandi explains that the brain generates maps and models of the body that guide how we perceive and use it, and that these maps and models are repeatedly modified and reconstructed. Drawing on recent bodily awareness research, the new science of self-consciousness, and historical milestones in neurology, he describes a range of psychiatric and neurological disorders that result when body and brain are out of sync, including not only the well-known phantom limb syndrome but also phantom breast and phantom penis syndromes; body integrity identity disorder, which compels a person to disown and then amputate a healthy arm or leg; and such eating disorders as anorexia.

Wide-ranging and meticulously researched, Body Am I offers new insight into self-consciousness by describing it in terms of bodily awareness.

Now a sprawling video game franchise, Resident Evil has kept us on the edge of our seats for decades with its tried-and-true brand of jump scares, zombie action, and biological horror. But even decades after its release, we can't stop revisiting the original's thrills, chills, and sometimes unintentional spills.

Pop culture writer and horror cinephile Philip J Reed takes dead aim at 1996's Resident Evil, the game that named and defined the genre we now call "survival horror." While examining Resident Evil's influences from the worlds of film, literature, and video games alike, Reed's love letter to horror examines how the game's groundbreaking design and its atmospheric fixed-cam cinematography work to thrill and terrify players—and why that terror may even be good for you.

Featuring a foreword from Troma Entertainment legend Lloyd Kaufman and new interviews with the game's voice actors and its live-action cast, the book serves as the master of unlocking the behind-the-scenes secrets of Resident Evil, and shows how even a game filled with the most laughable dialogue can still scare the pants off of you.

Bad Nature - How Rat Control...

Offers insights into the social and cultural implications of humans’ relationships with rats and the natural world. Apart from the occasional pet owner who has rats, most people regard rats as disease-carrying nocturnal pests, scurrying around dumpsters and dragging slices of pizza through New York City subways. Since rats are seemingly omnipresent in human life, why do we harbor such negative feelings about them, and why are they among the creatures most frequently targeted for systematic extermination? In Bad Nature, sociologist Andrew McCumber draws out the cultural underpinnings of rat extermination across three countries and two continents. Drawing from ethnographic, interview, and textual data from the frigid prairie of Alberta, Canada; the heart of downtown Los Angeles, California; and the iconic Galápagos Islands of Ecuador, McCumber studies how humans have sought to suppress and exterminate rat populations in a variety of environmental, social, and political situations. He shows how, in these disparate locations, rat control is a social practice that draws and clarifies the spatial and symbolic boundaries between “good” and “bad” forms of nature. Rats are near the bottom of a symbolic hierarchy of species that places human life at the top, companion animals and majestic wildlife just below them, and the “invasive species” that call for systematic extermination at the very bottom. This hierarchy of living things that places rats at the bottom, McCumber argues, mirrors human systems of social inequalities and power dynamics.  Both original and engaging, Bad Nature urges readers to consider, when charting a just and sustainable future, where will the rats be placed in the worlds we envision?
