Summary

The Book of the Angel is the most curious and debated of the Books of the Twelve minor prophets. The Greek manuscripts report it was given to humanity by the hand of an angel, while the Hebrew manuscripts report it was plural "messengers." Both the Greek and Hebrew terms could be interpreted as either one or more human messengers, or a supernatural angel; however, as the messenger was described as having wings, it supports the supernatural reading. Most Jewish and Christian denominations treat the word “messengers” as the name of a prophet; however, the prophet Malachi was never mentioned by any other prophet, or Ezra the scribe. The 1st or 2nd century CE Targum Jonathan claims the book was written by Ezra the Scribe; however, this is not generally accepted. In the 9th or 10th century CE Septuagint manuscript 86, Malahiou was treated as the name of the angel in the book; however, this reading is unique. The date the book was written is also a matter of debate, as the book does not include any of the usual references to the political situation. Angel does include references that can be used to date the work; however, they are not entirely clear.Elijah the Tishbite was the prophet Elijah from 3rd and 4th Kingdoms (Masoretic Kings), and 2nd Paralipomenon (Masoretic Diḇrê Hayyāmîm) whose life is dated to between 900 and 849 BCE. However, Elijah was reported to have been taken to the sky by angels circa 849 BCE, and during the Neo-Babylonian era, the belief that he was about to return surfaced in Judea. Therefore, the Book of the Angel could date to any time after the destruction of the Temple of Solomon. Angel does mention a “Temple of the Lord”, which is mirrored in Messengers with “Palace of the Lord”, suggesting it may have been one of the early attempts to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. The Targum Jonathan refers to it as an “altar of Ān”, which indicates the setting was sometime during the late Neo-Assyrian or Neo-Babylonian era, supporting the later dating option in the early 6th century BCE.

Over the last decade, the Religious Right has evolved. Some of the more extreme beliefs of American evangelicalism have begun to take hold in the mainstream. Scholar Matthew D. Taylor pulls back the curtain on a little-known movement of evangelical Christians who see themselves waging spiritual battles on a massive scale. Known as the New Apostolic Reformation, this network of leaders and believers yields colossal influence, galvanizing support for Trump and far-right leaders around the world. In this groundbreaking account, Taylor explores the New Apostolic Reformation from its inception in the work of a Fuller Seminary professor, to its immense networks of apostles and prophets, to its role in the January 6 riot.

Taylor's unprecedented access to the movement's leaders, archives, internal conference calls, and correspondence gives us an insider account of the connection between charismatic evangelicalism and hard-right rhetoric. Taylor delves into prophetic memes like the Seven Mountains Mandate, the Appeal to Heaven flag, and the Cyrus Anointing; Trump's spiritual advisor Paula White's call for "angelic reinforcements"; and Sean Feucht and Bethel Music's titanic command of worship styles across America. Throughout, Taylor maps a movement of magnetic leaders and their uncompromising beliefs—and where it might be headed next.

An Introduction to the Theology and Themes of 1 and 2 Thessalonians
Like Paul's other early churches, Thessalonica experienced great societal pressure to conform to the surrounding culture. But amid persecution, the Thessalonians remained faithful to their call to holiness as they patiently awaited Jesus's return. These epistles provide a positive and practical example of what Christians should believe and how they should behave today.
In this volume of the New Testament Theology series, author Andrew Malone explores 1 and 2 Thessalonians to highlight the life cycle of Christian discipleship—turning away from idols, trusting in the gospel message, having hope that the Lord will return, and continually pleasing the one true God until that return. Through clear and engaging theological examinations, Malone expounds on predominant themes—enhancing gospel reputation, persistence in the face of opposition, Christian life within an unbelieving society, and more—explaining how they are relevant for the church today.

St. Malachy O'Moore (Máel Máedóc Ua Morgair) was a 12th-century Irish bishop and abbot and, for a time, Primate of Ireland. He was a champion of Church reform in Ireland, in terms of standardizing sacramental rites according to the Roman usage, and a friend of St. Bernard of Clairvaux, dying in the latter's hands. These Prophecies of St. Malachy, discovered in 1590 and attributed to St. Malachy, are of uncertain origin. What is known is that they provide a significant account of popes from 1140 through 1590, and reasonable predictions on through to our own day. Many have claimed the last entries to refer to the popes of our own times: John Paul II, Benedict XVI, and Francis. Whatever the case may be, God only knows. We do know that St. Malachy was a holy bishop; hopefully these prophecies above all lead you to greater veneration of him, who will lead you to Christ.

Know the Theologians is an introduction to the most important thinkers throughout church history and a demonstration of their ongoing relevance for believers today.
The Bible describes the church as a kind of family. Those who believe in Christ are sisters and brothers in the faith, whether they live at the same time or are separated by centuries. For that reason, believers today need to know our family members who have come before and shaped our beliefs and practices now. In Know the Theologians, professors and authors Jennifer Powell McNutt and David W. McNutt introduce the most significant thinkers in the church's history.
McNutt and McNutt survey over a dozen theologians, including key Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Protestant figures, who represent the breadth and depth of the church's theology. The book explores how they fit into their own time period and demonstrates their ongoing relevance today. Each chapter draws attention to the theological voices of women throughout the church's history, and includes short sidebars on figures contemporary to the main theologians, bringing in additional important voices.
As part of the KNOW series, Know the Theologians is designed for either personal study or classroom use, and it will also be an accessible resource for small groups and adult education in churches.
