Summary

Sequel to Into the Divide
Commander Michele is dead, and the fragile balance of the base on OC-1320 is shattered. The Science Division and the First Fighters turn on each other, while Izaak, once a commander, now a man content to fade into the background, is reluctantly forced to take charge of the base. Distrusted by the scientists, about to be abandoned by his second-in-command Tarn, and confronted by Inspector Vincent Hawthorn, whom he was sent to investigate, Izaak is dragged back into conflicts he thought he'd left behind.
Vincent hasn't changed. He is overly dramatic and petty and prone to fits of jealousy. He is also arrogant, brilliant, and impossible to ignore, he forces Izaak to face not only the fractured base but also the truths he's buried about himself. Their shared past still lingers, full of old wounds and unfinished business, and now Vincent is the one man Izaak can't avoid.
Beyond the fence lies the Nullands and the Divide, where dangers come in alien forms. But inside the base, the battles are all too human. To survive, Izaak must decide what kind of leader he wants to be, and whether he can trust Vincent again, even if it means breaking everything he once believed in.

Selati, a big construct forced to work in the cobalt mines of Ilmare, is terrified of the overseers. Danger dogs his every breath, somehow the leader of his ragged work crew, and he finally has enough when the mine itself almost kills him. Humans or no humans, he refuses to let his crew die down in the dark. As his crew takes their stand in their bid for freedom, rescue comes. Freedom in the light and a whole new life awaits.
It's a duty Aleledai takes great pride in, saving his fellow Caniean. Humans might have created them to mine and nothing more, but like all things, the Caniean are not the mindless beasts humans intended to work to death for resources. Selati's rescue is probably his greatest accomplishment, because something about this one becomes everything Aleledai was missing, that made freedom perfect.
Humans don't let go of their things easily, though and war is coming, no matter what the Caniean want. The price of freedom is always high. Aleledai only hopes the price isn't everything he's found worth living for.

    COP KILLER.

That's the accusation scrawled on the home of a dead man, found executed in his own bedroom. That's the tawdry headline thrown around every news channel, every social media feed, every conversation taking over Baltimore.

That's the name given to a man who may have been innocent, but never had the chance to prove it—and now Malcolm and Seong-Jae must solve his murder. A death that never should have happened; a death on their watch, when legal technicalities tied their hands.

But with the paternity test results hanging over his head, Malcolm grows increasingly erratic, threatening to take his mind from a critical case that could tear Baltimore and the BPD apart. With a dead cop, a dead suspect, and the question of what to do about Juliette and Chrysanthe, there are no easy answers.

Only with Seong-Jae can Malcolm keep himself together.

And only with Seong-Jae will he find the path he needs to tread.

After some unexpected life detours, Callie Lewes is determined to complete her PhD program and figure out what to do with the rest of her life. Her laser focus is finely tuned and she's ready for total immersion in literature, subpar student essays, and all the joys that come with being a graduate teaching assistant. She has no time for, or interest in, anything else. Especially not dating.

Even if Callie were to entertain the idea of dating, she's certain it would be with someone vibrant, open, and close to her own age. Definitely not someone like Dr. Kate Jory, a new member of Pennbrook College's English department. Kate is both intimidating and a closed book. And the age difference between them is not small. But Kate is also brilliant and fascinating, and Callie is drawn to her in ways she'd never imagined possible.

Not that Kate notices. Or does she? Callie can’t tell. Even though they develop an engaging and flirtatious friendship, Callie struggles to work up the courage to put herself directly in Kate's romantic path—wary of the type of fire she suspects their sparks could ignite.

Between my tech firm and family's endowment fund, there's no shortage of people trying to get close to me. Offering a trespasser a job to run interference makes no sense, but neither does my instant attraction to sweet, submissive Micah. I never expected to fall in love with a man, let alone be the Daddy who takes on all his burdens.

    Micah
My life has never been easy, and my only option left was to sell myself. The intimidating and wildly sexy Calvin Rutledge offers me a lifeline out of the garden shed and off the streets. In exchange for room, board, and a chance at a better future, I would be his companion. But I never anticipated falling in love with my boss or craving the care that comes with being his boy.
