Summary

Sequel to Divided Within
In a universe fractured by political corruption, experimental technology, and alien life forms, Commander Izaak has tried to leave his life of command behind. But some battles don't end on the Nullands, and he doesn't know any other way to survive than by fighting.
Years earlier, Izaak Van Tassel was branded a criminal and sentenced to the First Fighters to serve out his term. Now, finally free, he prepares to leave that life behind -- but not alone. Accompanying him are three people who shape his world.
Vincent, his lover, is temperamental, fiercely protective, and jealous of anyone who interacts with Izaak. Their relationship is mutual, built on recognition of each other's emotional and physical presence, though the future remains uncertain. Vincent also harbors a deep dislike for Tarn.
Tarn is Izaak's closest operative and field companion, their bond forged through years of trust, respect, and professional understanding. Tarn is fiercely loyal and protective of Izaak, and their relationship carries an undercurrent of personal care beyond duty. Their first mission together had sent them to a windy, distant planet to rescue a doomed exploration team, a mission that shaped their lives and defined their bonds.
Calvin, Tarn's lover, is young and earnest, a protégé figure who admires Izaak both professionally and personally. Less experienced and often in awe, he is closely watched over by Tarn, leaving Izaak to balance mentorship with leadership.
But when an accident in space splits the group, Izaak finds himself stranded on a crippled ship with Calvin, while Tarn, struggling with failing health, must manage the volatile Vincent and navigate the treacherous corridors of the space station Seven Sisters. As tensions mount and loyalties are tested, Izaak uncovers a connection between their current crisis and that first fateful mission, forcing him to confront both the ghosts of the past and the uncertain future of those he cares for most.

Carson Smith is getting by fine. She loves her job as the bar manager at Second Chances, a dive bar staple of the Baltimore landscape, and she doesn't need anything or anyone disrupting the delicate balance she's created. Especially for a stupid Valentine's gimmick to take advantage of desperate singles. When the owner of the bar forces her to work with an event planning company to drum up business, she has no choice but to begrudgingly agree. It's either play along or see the bar close, and she can't let that happen.

It's only a week, but time passes differently when there's love in the air and too much on the line, and both women soon find their lives, and hearts, intertwined as they work together to make the week a success.

College senior Jake Mallory cares more about his reputation as a former high school jock turned party animal than his grade point average. His time in class is spent counting down to the weekend, when he'll hit the gay club scene with his roommate Holly, who doubles as his designated driver. To celebrate being back at school after summer break, Jake parties so hard, he wakes up Sunday morning with blurred memories of the past two days. Worse than his hangover, though, is the fact that he can't find his iPhone.
Holly's best friend Evan Williams is a grade A nerd, complete with slicked-back hair and thick, dorky glasses. Jake can't stand Evan on principle, though it's obvious to anyone with half a brain that Evan has a major crush on Jake. No matter how mean Jake is to him, Evan just won't take a hint. He might even know something about the missing phone, but Jake won't give him the time of day to hear what he has to say.
When Jake logs into the cloud online to access his homework, he finds photos uploaded from his phone that he doesn't remember taking over the weekend. In them is a hot, sexy guy he hooked up with in the back seat of Holly's car. Soon he realizes the guy must have his phone, and has begun taking explicit photos with it as if to tease Jake.
Holly knows who the guy is but she isn't telling, so Jake begs her to arrange a meeting. He wants his phone back, but more than that, he wants a chance to take things further with the hot stranger. She agrees to throw a house party and invite the guy over. At first, Jake is pissed when he doesn't show up. Jake doesn't even know who he is. But as the night progresses, he gets his phone back ... and so much more.

Brett Wescott has a talent for creating quick sketches of people from verbal descriptions. Ones that looked exactly like the subject -- at least according to the tourists who find him either in Jackson Square or one of the bars along Bourbon Street. It helps that he is telepathic.
Kylian Dubois is a powerful elf who runs a covert agency he formed in the late seventeen-hundreds to stop paranormals from preying on and killing humans. All of his employees are elves or shifters -- each one with their own reasons for wanting to work with Kylian.
When a particularly vicious shifter killer, known as the Phantom Slayer, begins stalking New Orleans, Kylian recruits Brett to help find him -- even though Brett is only human.
Slowly a bond forms between Brett and Kylian. A bond that could turn into something more, providing they can deal with their differences.
